Hot day or cold day....

Morning or Afternoon....

Just anytime my car has sit up for a while, when I start it, it will squeal till i drive it for about a minute. Then it goes away never to come back..... Till I let it sit for a while again.

I've got a new power steering pump on it, and new belts.

I took the AC out of my car to repair it, so I know it has nothing to do with my AC.

Anyone have any ideas?

You say new belts, but have you checked the tension? New belts will stretch initially and need to be tightened back up.

Your alternator belt is too loose. It should take a decent bit of effort to get the belt to make a quarter twist in the middle of the longest point between two pulleys.

Mine was doing the exact same thing. I would almost bet money it is your crank pulley. Make sure the rubber in the midde is not split or anything like that, and make sure it is on straight with all 4 bolts tight.

Mine does it also.
I took the power steering and ac out, put them back in. Found out i didnt tighten one of the pulleys enough so when i turn the ac on, or turn sharp or at all with the ac, it squeaks.
Id say tighten and check.

I had the exact same problem. I couldn't figure out which belt was squealing until I decided to do a stress test and the alternator belt felt hot and kind of "gooey" from not catching.

I replaced the belt and tightened it. Now I don't have any squeal upon start up.

Just had a problem with my alternator belt squealing too, I thought it was too tight. Turned out to be not tight as the tensioner bolt popped out of the arm it slots into. Just redid all of it today and went for a drive. No squeals at all..

I know I tightened everything prior to the squeals, and it still happened. Don't underestimate our cars for having little quirks that just happen without explanation from time to time.

Just to update everyone on this thread,

Replaced the AC Compressor and while I was in the neighborhood, I re-tensioned all of my belts, cleaned the area for all visible oil build up, and checked all belts for wear. Since then, I have no more noise in the morning.

Thank you all for the help.
