ok i got a problem the harness on my gsx is all hacked up and cut when i got the car :banghead:

97 Gsx 5 speed manual awd

and a

95 Gst automatic trans

can i use the AUTO GST engine harness and fuse box harness on the MANUAL GSX?

and also if i can use the harness

can i use the automatic ecu off of the Gst on the gsx?

if i did do this what would the difference be and would it work propperly?

and will all the plugs line up under the dash and in the engine bay?

Dont quote me on it, but im pretty sure that the awd harness and gst will be the same. The only difference will be in the tcu for the tranny. In my 1g I used a manual trans ecu from a 1g in my auto 1g when I installed ecmlink.

The harness can be made to work, but for what it's worth i would just repair what your original harness and re loom it. The differences are that the auto harness will have the wires and plugs for the auto transmission and tcu plugs on the inside. You would want to open the harness and delete all of these wires which would be more work than repairing your existing harness. Your cam angle sensor plug will also be in a different location and have a different pigtail which would have to be swapped out and you would have to add in the wires and plug for the reverse light sensor.

Well i dont really care about the reverse lights and the cas cause im using a 1g motor in it but will everything else work?

and the gsx harness cant be saved its all jacked up and the fuse box harness too

any other info on this?

You would be very surprised what can be done with a wiring harness. Has it been on fire and melted, or does it just have some spliced and cut wires. The harness that is attached to the fuse box is not the engine harness. That is a totally separate harness.

its like all cut on the cas and stuff and there is even wires i dont know where they go idk how to even start fixing it to make it work but i think it could be saved if the right person got to it and had the plugs that were cut and stuff

but my fuse box harness is broke the actuall box is all in pieces so id probably just use the plastic off the gst one on mine

this is such a headach:banghead::banghead: time for a beer

It's really pretty simple. Wiring is one of the most simple things that you can do on your car. Go buy a soldering iron, solder, some heat shrink and some wire loom. If your harness just has a few missing pigtails than just remove them from the other harness and solder them to your existing harness.

I've spent many 'beer:30' time on my DSMs. Could you post pics of the destroyed harness to give us all an idea of the damage? Me personally, I'd repair the harness unless I thought it was beyond saving, but I know how to do electrical repairs and such and somehow I enjoy it. I went through a similar problem last year and replaced the harness, but kept the old one so I'd have spare wires for splice repairs using the same color wire.
