So I was driving home and almost home, made a right turn and my Eclipse won't go when I press the gas. I turn on the hazards, turn the car off and on real quick and it goes to 20mph but it won't pass 20mph it starts reving but doesn't move past 20MPH.

I was googling around and saw some guy had this problem with his 98 GSX
Code:
http://codsm.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6698
and it was the wiring on the transmission was bad he said last post.

My reverse works fine, it idles normally, I was doing a couple pulls and all seemed good and was on my way home.

It throw a CEL but I have no way to check it without driving to autozone and I don't think it'll make it. Could it be in limp mode or something? Feels like it's in neutral after 20 it just revs and no more speed.

Then now it won't go past 20. I am trying to be positive and get it resolved as quickly as possible any idea's / advice is much appreciated.

The tranny oil is full, engine oil full, I don't see a transmission fuse my Dad was asking if there is one for our vehicles?

Please any help is much appreciated.

Well i don't have a lot of knowledge about autos, but it could be your end clutches. Since auto's run from pressure a solenoid could have given out. Google ipt transmission

I googled IPT transmission and found this
Code:
http://www.b15u.com/transmissions-clutches-etc/20710-ipt-transmission-review.html
is it like a company that does tranny's?

End clutches, my friend had An auto and it didn't have 5th gear. Replaced the end clutches and got his overdrive back

To check the cel lights without an obd2 you put your key in the ignition and turn it over three times and the check engine light will flash. It will flash like if its cel code 22 - - then pause and flash again - - then go look it up. If you dont understand look up cel code check without obd2. Im on my cell or I would post a link.

I can't open the page on my iPhone, if the autozone part number is K42936R then yes that's it. It has a warranty so if it happens to not fix your problem you could just return it. :thumb:

Edit: yes check out the cel first. The code or codes will better determine your problem.

thats the right part he is talking about but you need to check on your cel code and make sure thats what you need before you spend 300 bucks and tearing the car apart.

Definitely agree about checking the CEL codes. I reset the battery (disconnected it) and waited a little bit and connected it back.

Now the CEL doesn't pop back up, how long does one usually have to wait for the CEL to pop back up?

My dealership mechanic once let my car idle for about 1 - 2 hour(s) is that about how long it takes?

Also, if the tranny was overheating would it cause it to go into this 'limp mode' I've been hearing about or just not shift that well? I don't have a trans temp gauge yet :(

It can't really be limp mode since limp mode lets u get to like 40 MPH it locks ## trans in 2nd what u described is more like ## stuck in 1st.
How many miles do u have on that tranny? Because if u have a lot of miles ## better option instead of buying a 300$ solenoid is spent extra 150 and get a trans from a junkyard.

But first thin is first does it make a noise when u drive?
If it does I would say its ## trans filters screen that's cloged u might just need a trans filter kit for now

You might have wanted to drive it around for a bit to try to get the code to come back. Just letting the car run may not allow the code to come back if it's a transmission issue.

144,000 miles and it does not make any noises no sir.

Hey just wanted to throw in there back when I had a dodge avenger which was a automatic tranny, and The same tranny as our cars mine did the same thing. It turned out to be the torque converter. I went threw 2 transmissions that aamco put in and they kept failing. Finally me and a buddy rebuilt a used eclipse transmission put that in and ran great. But I'll never own an automatic dsm again. haha hope this helps

Your best bet as ive told you is call ipt.

I did that and they didn't even pick up the phone. I could assume they're good at what they 'do' but if no one is picking up the phone not for me.

Thanks man I will look into the torque converter. Could the OBDII scanner pick up on that?

Well you don't even actually know if its your torque converter that needs to be replaced. I wouldn't go buying parts until i know what needs to be fixed, you'll just end up wasting your money.

What did the scanner say? Did it throw a code yet? Did you drive it today?

The SRS light came on right away and it's always been associated with my tranny problems. I know SRS is the supplement restraint system but when it turns off it can actually shift from 3 - 4

The CEL has not came back on. Here's a short video, it's acting real weird too like revving up by itself. It used to sputter to maybe 1500rpm but not this high ever LOL:
