So story is I aquired a fully rebuilt 1g talon with engagement problems. Long story short took me about 4 months to get it moving. :)

Well for the past month I have been battling a surge problem. Read all the threads including Terrys trouble shooting guide, which has helped alot. Took me this long to figure out this problem but I just want confirmation from the experts on here to if it dounds like its my problem.(like I think it is)

Well finally got some time to start checking everything over. Everything was checking out in spec till I came to my BISS. Just for $h!t$ I went to put a screwdriver to it and its all the way closed. Granted my car idles around 800rpms. So I check both fiagnostics ports and come to find out they have never been tampered with. Still have the factory tape on the outside one and the rubber cover on the inside one.

So my question is how should I go about fixing this? I was thinking of buying the BISS kit just to be on the safe side. Also I will be using the BISS adjustment guide here 1G BISS Adjustment to put it all back into spec. Does this sound about right?

Thanks for all the help guy!

incorrect? i was saying swinging from lean to rich can cause surges because the engine will try to burn the extra fuel at a higher RPM, im well aware of how the WB works and when its supposed to read lean

That's why you told him to adjust his fuel trims on a basically bone stock car.

i said he needs to get them IN LINE and a bad o2 sensor usually runs/shows leaner, so to get them in line for him= new o2 sensor.. duh.. IF that is the issue. OP said it smells lean, well thats not really much of an indication of much cause there is no feedback to verify. Whens the last time the o2 sensor was replaced? COULD make a world of difference. I know mine did when i was stock and i replaced it.

Ummm...Do you have any service engine soon lights or throwing a code?
+1 for banking on boost leak...4g's and theyre boost leaks...ESP on stock setup, my lord.
also, check your tps sensor via VFAQ>DSM>Intake>scroll to throttle body>tps
also check the idle surge faq.

Never been replaced.

So kyle your right bad o2. Buddy broght over his ecu with link so we could check if it was my ecu at fault. But it still surged. Buddy said its more of a misfire then surge. So we hook up his dsmlink to check ign timing etc and come to find out the o2 isnt giving a reading. Its connected and everythind made sure of it. And at idle I am running 12.1 afr at idle.

Will post a log as soon as my buddy gets home and emails me it.
