I recently installed a hx35 along with a bunch of other things to go along with it.:rocks: I went for a quick test run and of course the stock clutch did not like 3rd gear and 28psi. So I have been looking at which clutch to get and cant decide. This car is not a daily, only driven on some weekends and mostly to and from the track. Question is looking at all clutch options it seems most stage 4&5 clutches are cheaper I just dont want a clutch that is to radical and hard to shift.

I also dont know the difference of sprung or unsprung. 3 years ago in my 2g fwd I was running a clutch masters stage 3 kevlar disc on my 16g and it held just fine at 28psi and I ran a 11.98. Wondering if the 6 puck is the best way to go? I am figuring with this hx35 I will be making more power than on my 2g and wanna make sure it will hold up for awhile. Any recommendations would be great, thanks for your input guys!!:thumb:
 
A 2600PP and a 6 puck should be all you need.

comp stage 4 6 puck sprung. It has a 2700lb pp. Should be really, really dificult to slip that one
 
I run an ACT 2600 with unsprung 6 puck, and it's fine for city driving. I can slip it when I need to, but once it clamps there's no slipping.

When i talked to act, they said it's rated at 550ft/lbs and a 2100 6 puck combo is good for 450ft/lb.

XTD stage 4 with southbend disk?

I'd run that on a 16g maybe 20g, but HX35 at 28psi will toast that thing.
 
I'm in the same boat, 30 psi on a 259 ett which lead to me toasting my southbend OFE. The 2600 lbs pp is a great option if your on a budget. The pedal may BD a lot stiffer compared to a twin disk but will be a lot quieter. I wouldn't say the twin disk is overkill as I'm sure with the hx35, your clutch will take a beating so why not have a clutch that is intended to take it. If you have the time to keep it down for a bit longer to save up, I would. The twin disk will have the smoothest shifts at high rpm.

I had a solid 6 puck race disk on a 2600PP after 5000 miles of daily drives and launches the clutch still has material on it but the clutch pads are completely glazed. luckily the flywheel and pp are not, but they are getting a good cross hatch sanding before i install the sprung 6 puck. solid clutches are alot harder on the transmission and drive train, and are also quite a bit louder, the springs are there for cushion and smoother engagement. Hoping with springs ill have my clutch look a bit better when i swap it out next time.


while yes the solid disk wont slip, your sacrificing engagement and drive train shock, for that. sprung disk shouldent be too far off from the slip point of the solid anyway.

ill be running my ACT2600 with 6 puck sprung disk on a billet 7 blade HX40 at 30psi, after L19s im thinkin 40 psi.
 
Sweet thanks for all the input guys, looks like im gonna try the comp stage 4 6puck sprung kit. Its only 359 and should hold the power im looking for. If this was winter I would def just wait and save and buy a twin disc but I am wanting to get out to the track asap and here in utah the track is only open till late september.
