what aftermarket cams will fit a 2g head without changing springs?

what is a good set of cams for a stock 2g head? I really dont want to change the spring and retainers. Im not looking for anything too aggressive either. anyone??

Hks 272's are arguably the best set if you don't want to change springs. Also FP2 cams from forced performance are close to the same with a little added top end. BC's are cheaper then the other two options, but I have heard there are good and bad shipments of them. Really anything that is 264/264 or 272/272 you can run with a stock head. The brand you choose is up to your liking and budget. I personally love my hks 272's.

Look up delta cams, you can get exact replicas of the hks 272's for less than half the price, and they have excellent reviews and reputations.FFWD connection has them and are listed as "DKS" cams, I believe they are just under $300 too which is a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for the "H"

Pretty much any cam under a 280 duration will work with stock springs. Just do not take it past stock red line. Post up a mod list, what you use the car most for and we can better help assess what cams would work best for you!

what's the big deal with not changing your springs? while you've got the valve cover off, why not just go the extra step and get some nice springs?

From what I have found, most 1g/2g stock DSM valve springs are weak, and need to be changed,

BC1100 or manley singles are under $100 and work with stock retainers.

There is a tool made for the 1g head so you change the springs out without removing the head. I have one just don't remember where i got it from.

Pull your spark plug, push a non fray rope into the cylinder and coil it to take up the space, bring the piston up to press the valve.. Now pull the spring. the valve shouldn't drop more than a hair as long as the coil takes up all the room.

For under a $100 you can pick up a set of evo 8/9 factory beehive springs with retainers and seats which allows you to rev a little higher.

Also not much of an upgrade for the work when you can get bc springs and retainers at almost the same price.

Really? I've got HKS 272s with stock valvetrain and no issues. They are more aggressive then BCs too. I personally wouldn't buy BCs.

Also I've hit red line in my car more then once.
