Am I way off, need info for 950cc dsmlink with a real evo8 maf, HELP, or what setup for e85 should I use, looking for 385hp, and up, yes newbie question ... thank you

Spend some time reading this:

Yes, you can switch to E85 with link. Just multiply your injector size by .67 and use that number as your injector size to compensate for the more fuel needed. So for you, 950 x .67 = 636 cc injectors. This will get you very close. Then start your tune over again by dialing in the injectors, dialing in your idle (AirFlowPerRev and CombinedFTs), getting your closed loop tuning and then finally WOT pulls.

Those injectors should be fine with a s16g. I am running FIC 850's on E85 with a 14b and getting ~ 67% IDC's.

Timing will need to much more advanced with E85. In the neighborhood of 17-20* advanced by redline. Also your AFR will need to be a little leaner, in the neighborhood of 12.0- 12.5 AFR. Spend some time reading the thread I linked for more information. The best way to get it perfect would be on a dyno but you can still get a lot out of it just street and track tuning. That is what I did.

Hope this helps!

LOL, after reading a couple pages now IM ready to switch. God damn, they make it sound like the best uprade ever. It really is though. I know enough about ethanol to know its worth a good 60whp on my setup if not more. Its harder to find nowadays though. After the lobbyist pumped all the money to get the manufacturers to start building the amazing "flex fuel" cars, people realized its actually horrible fuel as far as environmentally and mpg-wise.Its great for tuners though LOL. I have one station about 15 miles away that still has an e85 pump, i might have to grab a few 5 gallon jugs and setup a tune on it sometime. It IS still a tiny bit cheaper than gas around here, not much though.

I gained 12 MPH in the 1/4 mile after switching to E85 and increasing my timing. I would say its worth it. Here it's currently under $3.00 which is almost a $1.00 cheaper then 91 octane.

Its around 4 a gallon for 93 and iirc about 3.25 for ethanol. Its hard to find around here. I actually live east of stl in illinois. It was everywhere for awhile then slowly they started pulling the pumps as demand decreased.

gotta eat my words. Found about 3 stations within 15 miles. More than i expected. Cost is between 315 and 329

E85 is probably my favorite mod for any DSM :) I remember when there wan't nice little threads with everything spelled out -_- and if you wanted to run it you where lucky to fine any solid info... everyone these days has it easy... .

Can't really go wrong there if you have the fuel system...

Though Ecmlink Full isn't the only way to do dual maps OP ;)

I'm actually in the process of getting my car retuned on e85. I filled my car up the other day, $2.87/gallon :thumb:. So far I'm loving it, just can't wait to lean things out and up the timing advance. It's funny how nobody mentions how bad it smells LOL.

:hmm: The E85 I've always pumped smells a hell of a lot better then anything else out of the pump... Smells Sweet  good to me... .

It reminds me a lot of spoiled produce in the trash compactor from back when I used to work Wal-Mart produce. I can get where you say sweet though. Maybe I'm crazy but I like the way pump gas smells. LOL

Hey guys I just have a quick couple questions I was hoping I could get answered. I'm in the process of switching to e85 and I have an HX40 i'll be bolting up and I read in a separate forum that 1600cc injectors will flow around 71 lbs/min. That being said, when I switch to e85, can someone explain to me the math to what my global is going to be? Also when I switch over do I just set my AFRs at like 12 where its originally at like 10.8 and 11 at high load and rpm and as for timing, do I just do a couple cruises to figure out how much advance I need?
Thanks a lot!

Edit: I have read up on the forum posted above but if someone could just clarify a little on the timing advance and on the global calculations

It's covered in those threads(and above in this one)... But, Let's keep this on topic to the OP first question about switching maps... .

Posting in the beginner thread would be your best bet if you can't figure out after clearly reading everything you can in those threads again... .
