I just purchased most of the parts I needed left! I got the front bumper on its way, thanks to Schwebe101 and the rear bumper, spoiler, center caps, and side strakes for the driverside will go out tomorrow or Thursday! All I need now is the sideskirt cups and door pieces, the strakes for the passenger side, and the airbag cover. Then I'll be finished! :D

Thank you man! Yea I had a few snap off when I converted it to 2gb Eclipse from 2ga Eclipse, that wasnt fun. :toobad: LOL. Luckily I'll have cudadrt and my dad helping me with the conversion. As far as I'm aware the splash gaurds are exactly the same. And I had no idea the spoiler was held in with sealer, double sided tape, velcro, and plastic clips. I thought it just bolted on LOL. Guess that is good to know! What do you reccomend to fill in the holes on the hatch and sides of the car from the bolt holes from the 3 piece eclipse spoiler? Just some good bondo? Thanks for the information! :rocks:

I found the bolts hold the main section of the thumbnail spoiler on but the tips that ride up the sides of the windows need extra support, where the velcro/tape comes in. I learned this from pulling off the stocker, I'm like velcro, really?

Where did you get your strakes! I'm missing my rear passenger side one...the previous owner broke it somehow >.<

Guy was parting out a 97 TSi AWD on here, I asked for them within an hour of it being posted! He should be shipping everything out today! :thumb: oh and the UPS guy just teased me hard, he pulled up my driveway and I'm like my Talon bumper is here! :D but nope, he was delivering something to my grandmother's house :banghead: guess he'll be back tomorrow!

you... suck... LOL just kidding! I just need the passenger side ones now. and the sideskirt pieces that attach to the door, because I'm ordering the sideskirt cups tonight! :rocks: Thank God its payday!

So just to do the front bumper swap, you would need the bumper, headlights, markers, and the hardware? I plan on doing the side skirts and front for now. Sorry to thread jack

Yes that should be all! Make sure your headlights match up if you don't want the gap. 2gb headlights for 2gb bumper!

I've done the rear eclipse to talon swap on my 96. The brackets under the tail lights need moved down 1.5". I just got rid of the bracket in the center. The styrofoam is not needed. To make the brake lights and turn signals separate, you need to remove the brake input wire from the flasher and run thy wire directly to the brake lights. And so the turns flash at a normal speed, you need to add a resistor in series with the turns. I got the resistors from vled's for I think around $6+ shipping.

The rear bumper, and spoiler were shipped out today, and I believe the skirt cups will be as well. Since next week is spring break for me I will be putting all the new parts on! :thumb:

You will need the tail light harness that is in the tail light itself anyway, unless you just want to make your own.

The difference is the flasher (behind the cd player). The eclipse flasher is way different than the simple talon 3 wire flasher (since the brake lights and the turn signals are combined in the eclipse). Most people that i've seen do the conversion, just use the red part of the talon tail light as the turn signal, but this allows you to separate it so that the brakes are in the red area and the turns are in the amber area. Let me know if that makes sense.

As far as the wiring goes, in the Eclipse, the stock configuration has the wire on the output side of the brake switch (at the pedal) go straight to the flasher. When I did the talon conversion, I cut that wire from the flasher and ran it to the tail lights where I connected it to the turn signals.

You will also have to install a resistor so that the signals don't flash as if you had a burnt out bulb. Basically this acts as the second bulb, since the eclipse has two bulbs that flash while the talon will only have one.

This is the resistor I used >>> http://www.v-leds.com/BlinkerWarning-Fix/Turn-Signal-Fix/6-OHM-50W-2-BULB-LOAD-p4783296-1-2.html

What do I do about the reverse lights?

Please don't jump my butt.. it's just a question?? Why would want a Talon over an Eclipse.. it's the same car minus different body lines for the most part.. Or is that the reason, people like the look of the Talon over the stock Eclipse?

Because I own 3 Eclipse's LOL. I just like the way Talon's look a lot better. Every time I've went to buy one the deal falls through, so I figured I'm better off converting it. Not to mention everyone and their brother just about has a 2GB Eclipse, I see them everywhere and want a change of pace.

LOL just curious..LOL I had a talon before i had an eclipse.. always had the other prob,. cold find talons but never eclipses..LOL now i have both.. want to sell the talon now.. its only a 420a

Well Spring Break has come and gone, and I had no time to work on the conversion at all. :( I'm buying the GSX wheels tomorrow though! But I'm going to need tires. The car is just going to sit for awhile, since it now needs a few things. So I'll be dailying my RS for a little while again. Maybe this we give me an excuse to start taking parts off haha. I will continue to update as I do things.

Update!

So far all I've really done is take off some parts. I still need to fix the front bumper, make new holes for the rear spoiler, and get paint. If anyone knows the measurements for the holes for the 2GB Talon spoiler, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be ordering my GSX wheels and the side strakes hopefully soon. I will continue to update as I do more!

Anymore updates? I have a 2ga Tsi with 2gb front bumper. I want to complete the swap when I am not struggling for money like I am now. So until then, i am just watching all you guys do it! Yea, im a little jelly haha.

Keep up the good work guys. The eclipse look will never come close to looking better than the 2gb talon!
