what all has to be done on your talon? I think mines going to need work soon I really need to find a garage to work in fast! Do you know of any dsm'r that has body work experience around here? I wanna learn so I can fix the little bit of rust on mine before it becomes a big bit of rust.

That sucks for him, you know if he's planning on fixing it before the end of winter?

I have to do the headgasket and water pump on mine. I think Garrett mentioned he may only get around to fixing his winter Talon next year.

If you happen to notice all the 1g DSMs in Saskatoon, you'd see that no one knows a thing about body work. :p

Yeah, I dont think I will be fixing it any time soon. Looking at getting a truck right now to tow my 91 around for the summer, and possibly find a transmission to get it shifting at the track again.

The 94, well, i might look at it in the spring. Sucks because that thing destroyed everything in its path with the studded pirelli's on it.

@1990awd-#### was really hoping some buddy would have experience but looks like I'll tackle it on my own! LOL  You got a garage to do your work in or are you just going to wait til summer?

@greddy1700- Ya cant blame ya for looking for a truck! I severly handy capped myself when I sold my 98 chevy 1 ton a couple months back. Yours an AWD? there's a tranny for an AWD on kijiji last time i looked for $350.

Yeah, not worth my time. Im at a point where if I keep running stock transmissions at the track I'm going to get awfully good at replacing them. I need a shep / jack / TRE transmission now. Maybe a bigger turbo while im at it...

Or maybe you should just move down a 14b with me. I have zero transmission problems, and I almost caught you in Swift because of your transmission! LOL

hahaha I loved that. I watched you blow past me when my car wouldnt go into second gear, then when it finally sank in gear and the turbo spooled up again I was just watching your car slowly pull closer and closer haha. She wasnt going to admit defeat that easy.

LOL I know, I knew something had gone wrong. You have a much better suspension setup and twice the power... it should've never even been that close! ROFL

Anyone have a '90 turbo throttle body with good shaft seals or a '91-94 with sensors and fuel rail?

Winter time! Hey, its been a while since I've been on any forums but now that winter is here I have some spare time.

I just thought I would put a link up to my crackbook, it has most of my pictures of my build and some video of the car on the dyno. Most of the pictures are under the mobile uploads album.

I also have a build thread on BoostedAlberta.com, I havent updated it in a while though. It's under EGuenther/IllEagle.

Since I got the car running I've only made it to Sask twice, once for the Moose Jaw show and shine and, since the weather was so nice, I drove it down in rwd for Christmas:)

Hey guys, I figured I'd let you know I'm putting my Talon up for sale. I just don't have the money to keep fixing it, especially when I have my Eclipse. Would make a great project as it has really good suspension, new top end, and rebuilt turbo. I'd give a good price to someone who I know will take good care of it.

HERE's the ad.

Hey guys,
I am just in the process of getting an out of province safety inspection on my car and I show up at the inspection place and they tell me that my car will not pass because it has an aftermarket exhaust.

I think thats fair enough because my megan 3" is loud as hell. Ideally I would like to have a vibrant dual tip muffler fabbed up to my existing system with a resonator further up stream to further quiet her down (inserted where the test pipe is now).

Since the vibrant is straight through design apparently it too will not pass even though it is "stock appearing" due to its lack of baffles.
Anyone have experience with this?
Or have any suggestions?

Do any of you guys know if this baffle thing is really that important if it is stock appearing and not loud as hell?

New build + out of province safety inspection = pain in the A$$

You could always try finding a stock exhaust you can throw on just for the safety and then take off again afterwards.

Thats BS. I dont recall anywhere on the SGI safety sheet that says it will fail if the exhaust is factory or aftermarket. What matters is its condition.

Is the exhaust leaking? is it piped in such a way to remove noise (ie have a muffler)? etc. Just because its not what came on it from factory shouldnt matter. personally I would try another shop, cause that is BS. Ive passed a few safeties with exhausts, one of them being my old 2g with a full megan exhaust.

@1990awd - The thing about that is getting a awd stock exhaust that would pass. Im not sure if you have seen any of the pick-your-parts here but they are hurting for turbo awd 1g dsms. The 1gs that they do have are sunk into the ground, and that is a miserable day of digging that I am not willing to do.

@Greddy- Ya i had a hard time believing that too. The exhaust is in great shape and there are no obvious leaks.

The megan is pretty loud, but what really gets me is the fact that the few shops i have talked to say it has to have baffles! (ill do more shopping around) i don't see why this wouldn't pass, even though it is straight through-->
Vibrant Performance ::.

It works for the guys in cali....

Do you have the silencer / baffle that came with the exhaust? If so, put that in and argue with them.

Yea thats how it is, ill look it up in my sgi book tomorrow for the specifics. having aftermarket stuff makes it a pita unless u know the right ppl haha.

Muffler - leaking, missing, patched, not oem or eqivalent.
- holes other then by the manufacturer
- path affixed other then by welding
Then under class A vehicles in the begining subsection it states: the vehicle shall have a muffler that effectively reduces combustion noise

I cant believe this thread is still kicking!
I have had similar problems trying to saftey my eclipse in the past without the factory exhaust. Shouldnt be a problem now though i know a few guys that will always over look exbausts as long as the system is intact and not freakishly loud ( meaning a silencer would suffice) .
Excuse the typo's im on my phone

Anyone got their car out?

Scott get out of our thread.

And no, not gonna have the car out for a couple weeks at least. Waiting for a new diaphragm for my fuel pressure regulator, then try and track down a boost leak, and get it ready for Race School in Maniotba in may.
