So, I got in all my exhaust parts for my turboback megan system, save for the down pipe. Megan tells me that they are backordered and they will be getting them in June. I've got everything else ready to go, I checked a few other places, and they don't have it. The specific part is:

Megan Racing Mitsubishi Eclipse/Talon 95-99 AWD 3" stainless downpipe

Anyone know where I could find this, megan said to check with extremepsi.com, and they don't have it. If someone has this part in halfway descent shape, id be very interested, i dont want to wait till june to buy.

Also any suggestions on a downpipe you've used with a megan o2 housing and catback from a different company would be great, im looking for a direct bolt on incase I have to restore to stock. Thanks!

They no longer make a Punishment in 2.5" for FWD's do they?

please come back when you've installed your DP and let us know how the fitment on the O2 housing went. I've seen things in different parts of these forms and nothing yet about actual fitment from someone who actually runs it. Thanks and good luck with your bolt ons.

ive got the megan down pipe and it fits just fine to the o2 housing.... no problems at all. well actually, the welds were a little close to the bolts for where the washers go, but it seals right up. if you get a 3inch o2 housing or a ported one, id probably port the down pipe out a little bit as well.

It fit just fine, bolted up without any problems. The punishment downpipe mates well with the megan o2 housing.

I tried to order a 3" Megan DP back in Feb and found out that they are nation wide back order.... So I went to PR site to pick up theirs back in April. Their site said out of stock more in a week and a half, tried again and out, tried again and out, May 1st tried again and out, May 7th I think it was and out again. I finally got a response back on the email and they said if I ordered it that I would be the first on the list for the June 1st order, so I ordered on the 17th of May and I haven't heard a single word. Brand new catback sitting in my garage that I can't put on because my stock exhaust has the cat cut out (that eliminated the flange for the CB).
I swear I need to just get out of the DSM community and buy a minivan....

Very frustrating I know. Here's the response I got back from them regarding my order being delayed again:

The Megan Racing downpipes have been on backorder since last September and I'm not positive if they will be producing them again anytime in the near future. The fact that they have quit producing them has tripled our downpipe sales and we are having trouble keeping them in stock.

Look, I don't work for that company, but simple economics will tell you that they are doing something wrong. Their main competitor falls out of the market, sales triple, and they can't keep their Downpipes in stock? They should be raising their prices!

I'd pay $250 for this downpipe to be at my door step tomorrow. Simple economics of demand & supply will tell you that this isn't right.

I'm having the same exact problem also with my punishment downpipe I ordered it may 1st and still haven't received it to this day. I got a few emails but nothing since middle of may. It's pretty ridiculous I have an srs catback system in the box ### I'm waiting for this downpipe that I ordered a month ago.

DSMer's wanting higher prices... this is a first. ROFL

I love punishment racing they have great products. I see many people are wanting christmas erly and hating on shipping. But no biggy it will get there when it gets there.:thumb:

Ordered a 3" Megan from Extremepsi and it came 2 days later. Just recently.

Thank you Extremepsi!!!!!!!!

Was yours on back order too? I'm really anxious to get this downpipe...

I went with the punishment racing 3" DP and the megan catback. Recently bought a GSX sight unseen, and the seller said it had an N1 exhaust. When the car arrived from being shipped, it had no exhaust:notgood: So I am super anxious to get this so I can get everything bolted up and see what other parts are going to make a dent in my pocket book.

hmm i guess they still have some gst downpipes in stock. Extremepsi told me the megan racing downpipes were on nation wide back order because megan racing was re-designing the downpipe - that was for the AWD downpipe though.

I am still waiting on my DP from PR. I JUST now got a response back from them that they won't weld an O2 bung on without the car being there. I placed my order in May and no ship date. I thought I called Extreme in May and they didn't have one in stock.....Stupid Japan had to go and have an earthquake and now parts from them are on "Nationwide Backorder" booooo
I really need my new DP, can't put my Megan Catback on because the stock exhaust doesn't have a cat so I can't unbolt and put the new on. The stocker is all rusted, make rattle sounds, and I feel like I am the only modified, semi quick, eclipse on factory exhaust......

I bought a full Megan set up a couple years ago for my gsx and had the same issue with the dp being on back order as well. So I bought the test pipe until the dp was in stock and sold my cat to pay for the tp. So I didn't end up spending any extra money. It's another route some of you guys might be interested in.

There wont we any fitment issue, 99% of the aftermarket o2 housings are 2.5" (including our own) and we've never had any issues mating the o2 housings to the downpipe. The only major fitment issue is when using our downpipe with the stock o2 housing and thats mainly due to the factory studs being so thick.

Punishment Racing

Tim,

So I currently have a megan racing 2.5 02 housing running to a 2.5 downpipe - I plan to upgrade to a 3 inch dp soon. Your stating that if I purchase the 3 inch downpipe you guys sell I won't run in to any leaking or connection issues when mating it to my MR 02 2.5 housing? Do I need to run a 2.5 or 3 inch gasket for this to work?

Thanks for your help,
Manuel

Seems to be a few people in this thread who had their Megan Racing flex section fail.

How is the durability on the Punishment Racing DP? Has anyone had any issues with the flex section?
