Megan Racing Downpipe

So, I got in all my exhaust parts for my turboback megan system, save for the down pipe. Megan tells me that they are backordered and they will be getting them in June. I've got everything else ready to go, I checked a few other places, and they don't have it. The specific part is:

Megan Racing Mitsubishi Eclipse/Talon 95-99 AWD 3" stainless downpipe

Anyone know where I could find this, megan said to check with extremepsi.com, and they don't have it. If someone has this part in halfway descent shape, id be very interested, i dont want to wait till june to buy.

Also any suggestions on a downpipe you've used with a megan o2 housing and catback from a different company would be great, im looking for a direct bolt on incase I have to restore to stock. Thanks!

yeah so did i boss. and then the seller contacted me a week later after i asked when it was being shipped, and told me it was backordered and he was refunding me. Most, if not all of the guys who sell new merchandise on ebay dropship from the manufacturer. Hopefully you got one where the guy actually has it in hand, but most likely not. Megan has none.

The only difference is that the Megan necks down to 2.5" at the o2 housing while the Punishment one is a full 3". I'm not saying thats bad thing, I run a full Punishment exhaust, I'm just saying, thats the only difference.

Why not just get a muffler shop fab up a full 3" downpipe with a flex section to your cat back?? Will cost a hell of alot less for the same performance you will be paying for "name"

I want all bolt on, so if need be I can convert seamlessly and easily back to stock for emissions purposes and then back again.

Just curious but how does the Punishment DP fit on 2G oil filter housing and O2 housing, with the Meagan being 2.5" the clearance is a little easier. I don't have any experience with the punishment DP but it does look like a quality piece.

Punishment Racing has one available at almost all times, and it produces nearly the same output.

Megan isn't a "name brand" if that's what you're shooting for. The flanges for that exhaust will be no different from those you can obtain right now.

haha its not the name brand thing. I just want to make sure everything fits perfect, or at least close, because I don't want to pay some tool from meineke to fab out fittment issues. It would be no problem in Chicago, where im from, but I just moved to Tucson and I don't even have a garage and no hookups as of yet. I was just going to jack up my dsm on my driveway and strap it on. I have this thing about never wanting to spend money on something I can do myself, so trying to avoid taking it into a muffler shop. Not getting the center piece in my turboback system kind of cheeses me off.

Although I have a 1G, I could attest for the quality of the 3" punishment racing downpipe. It is very nice quality and I have not had any problems with it. I would recommend them.

Your best bet is a punishment, and also I believe it's higher quality. It should fit, I've had the Megan o2, dp, and catback. As well as the punishment. They all use the same flanges so that won't be an issue. And both have factory "like" Fitment so neither of those concerns should be an issue.

There wont we any fitment issue, 99% of the aftermarket o2 housings are 2.5" (including our own) and we've never had any issues mating the o2 housings to the downpipe. The only major fitment issue is when using our downpipe with the stock o2 housing and thats mainly due to the factory studs being so thick.

Have you looked at the price of a Megan downpipe? There aren't very many shops that will custom make you a SS downpipe with flex section & mandrel bends, for what the Megan goes for (probably want more just for the labour). Megan uses fairly thin walled SS & the flex section probably isn't the strongest, but it does the trick.

I had my 3" SS turbo back exhaust with mandrel bends (very few bends, only ones are at end of car for exit) for $425 Canadian. I had the Megan downpipe (had turbo back megan parts) and the flex section collapsed. Muffler shop proved to be cheaper than my whole Megan setup, and I now have a really aggressive sounding SS, turbo back exhaust with very few bends, for less than most cat back systems. The only part I kept from my Megan set up was the muffler.

Well, I went with the punishment downpipe and got a great deal from Punishment Racing! The pipe looks even better than the Megan pipe looked, a true 3" the whole way. I'm actually glad they were on backorder now. Saved money, got a better product, everyone wins.

Damn, the flex section itself was 100$? Wow. I think my whole downpipe from Punishment was about about 135$ out the door. Now I can finally put the exhaust on once it gets here, ive been waiting so I could do the entire turboback at the same time.
