Hey bud, thought you could use a little challenge being you name off every turbo you see like it was something you learned with your ABC's LOL

Here's some pics...tell me the maker (hardest) what is looks to be (pretty easy)
and explain where the hell i can get a gasket for that exhaust side

this is the turbo i picked up for my bike (gsxr 750) and aside from taking it apart to remove coked oil to free it up the thing actually turned out to be in great shape. (it was given as partialpayment on a DP build and a bunch of other custom work i'm doing on a turbo Civic hatch) IF i use it, i will finish building up the bridge between the gate flapper hole and the turbine outlet and do an external gate on the o2 housing

if ya need hints i'll give them to ya :) (i already know maker, what it's supposed to be, but not where to get the gasket aside from making one)

To be honest though although i know what it's a copy of, i don't know which variation it's a copy of some any insight or thoughts based on the wheels is apreciated

Yes, i know there's dmage to the compressor (one fin was chipped, so i "balanced it" by removing the same mass from the other side (ghetto i know but i'm gonna get anew comp wheel and have the assembly blanaced IF i keep it)

hahah... I can't believe i have the master stumped LOL just kidding, it's a "replica" or knockoff if you will of a T28 (was told it was advertised as the "disco potato" but i knew it wasn't.. and the emblem on the CHRA was said to show it was an FP which i also knew didn't look right.. but i'll knock 25 bucks off his bill anyway, i'm sure it will do just fine on the gsxr 750 at 5 psi. It even had a tubular manifold with it and a tubular o2 housing with the WG and turbine exiting seperately :) (great parts to build on for my budget turbo build on the bike) or i may use a td04 from a WRX (but not sure what "deadbolt" means on the version i've been told i should get

But, one thing i am not sure about is the 28's wheels sizes at the exducer and inducer on either turbine or compressor. it's a really small turbo that was included with a d series honda turbo kit from ebay..made by a company called "xindemake industry and trade" it's model is the jp60e, and aside from the circular ring and washer on the turbine side bearing it's exactly like a t28/t25, but also with only oil cooling provisions.. it just has normal style snap rings on the rear bearing, also it has the 3 bolt 270* thrust bearings, but other than that it matches the garrett rebuild t25/t28 shaft/bearing specs exactly. And aside from the mild coking i had to clean off, the turbo came out to be in great shape aside from the chipped compressor wheel (which hell, i'm making over 400hp on a much worse looking 57 trim wheel right now - 2 people have said they'd give me a 57 wheel for free but i've yet to recieve one LOL (oh well, beggers can't complain right?)

EDIT: you can find it on this page here http://www.xdmake.com/en/product.asp?bigclassname=Turbocharger (click "turbo series and it's on the bottom right of page) it's listed as "small class" but if you browse their automotive section or gasoline areas they've named most of their turbos after other big name manufacturers' units LOL

yea, picked em up from a friend in trade for some of the turbo fab work on his R6

haha...get this, they call that turbo the "t25/t28 tdo4-h 15g" no such thing peoples sorry hahahha..ebay and their crap!!!!!!

Yeah, it seems eBay is inventing turbos that cannot possibly exist these days. Apparently they don't understand that T25 and 15G refer to completely different companies.

Regardless....I have one for you, Glenn- or really anyone who wants to participate. This turbo is going on my GSX- that's all the info you get. I blanked out the model number and serial numbers from the compressor cover to throw the Google aspect out the window and leave you with as much info as I had about the first turbo in the thread.

Again- builder, wheel spec, and OEM application is what we're shooting for here. I'll go as far as to say this is exactly how this turbo would appear fitted on it's original application- I'm not playing games with swapping wheels or housings here. Rep points for the first person to get it right!

the hotside looks to me MHI.. and the wheel looks to be 16g.. center section looks funny, but not use to looking at them, and the compressor housing is out of the question for me to answer right now.

this is all of the top of my head, and i dont know much about different turbos other than stock 14b, 16g's and some holsets!

Im going to guess 18g though... its from a conquest/starion!!

It kind of reminds me of a nissan turbo. but the waste gate has the mistubishi symbol on it i think.

Is it an Evo VIII turbo?

Wait i know what that is Its a Volvo 2.5l s70/v70

And thats because mhi also manufactured turbos for volvos. am i correct with the what turbo it is? or in the ball park?

I'm also guessing its off a a Volvo

The way the compressor housing outlet is angled I'm guessing whatever it came on had a fmic stock...hmmmm

From a Hino box truck by chance? no clue other than it seems very MHI, maybe a diesel generator?

Hmm, based on your statement, the list is extremely cut down to vehicles that came from the factory with a DSM style turbine housing but did not use an upward compressor discharge with j-pipe. I'm stumped even after googling countless words and phrases. My only guess is it's some obscure JDM car that came with a 4G variant, like the old RVR (but the RVR had a top mount IC with an upward compressor outlet).

Is it an Evo VIII turbo?
Nope- they spin the opposite direction and still use a j-pipe flange on the compressor outlet.

Nope- those are TD04 15Ts. As said above, I wouldn't buy a downgrade

Not a box truck, not a generator...as most generators are diesel and a diesel engine which runs at a constant RPM does not require a wastegate.

Again, I've not modified this turbo in ANY way. This is exactly how it appears on it's OEM application. :D

IT's the super-duper-JDMultra secret spec EVO XXVIII-2 16O.G.e (e for eliminator) turbo built only for the japanese prime ministers sons own personal edition line of EVO 28.2's

am i right am i right?? LOL

a.k.a. the bastard super 20g LOL

Fair enough. I've spoken with a colleague and decided that we have a winner.

Steve, you are correct- it's from a RVR....but not just any RVR, the Hyper Sports Gear R Version which was only produced for the 1997 model year and uses most of the same running gear as an Evo III.

Basically the turbo I have pictured above is an Evo III 16G with a downfiring outlet on the compressor cover from the factory which I believe can only be used on a 2G because the front roll stop mount on a 1G is in the way. It's made to fit into a very tight space because there is not much room between the RVR's engine and radiator.

Where did you get your hands on one of those? It sounds rare.

I actually found it on eBay a while ago. The seller knew what it was from, but apparently was unaware of the rarity. I paid a little more for it than I would have liked to for a used turbo in unknown condition, but I rolled the dice and came away with a very rare unit in exceptional condition.

I'm excited that I'll basically have an Evo III 16G with a downfiring compressor outlet that is already facing the driver's side of the car, freeing up a ton of space for the FMIC piping. I'm confident that I may be able to pull of using both stock fans with this unit on the car.

It's coming down between running this turbo or a GT3076R in the DSM bolt-on 30R turbine housing I've had here salvaged from an old SBR GT13, but I'm not excited about running the external gate on the car. If I come across a great deal I may be swayed toward the 30R, but I'd honestly rather keep a somewhat-stock turbo and manifold / o2 housing setup.

Hooray! LOL

Definitely an interesting/rare find, put that thing to use!
