Got my new 98 gsx running yesterday after a new clutch and flywheel install. The car will idle fine and other times itll surge like crazy (sometimes its so bad it dies). A buddy says that it could be my idle air control or my mass airflow. Was just wondering what some fellow dsm'ers had to say :)

If you had the battery disconnected for a while, I'd say just drive the car and not worry about it. I've seen a couple 2G's that don't like to idle right away after sitting for an extended period of time with a dead or disconnected battery....it's possible the problem will go away with a couple drive cycles.

My '97 GSX, on the other hand, sat most of this winter with a dead battery....started the car the other day and it idled perfectly.

I Picked the car up in February with a dead battery and bad clutch. From my knowledge it sat all winter under a pile of snow and didnt put a new battery in until Sunday. Thanks for the advice Ill definitely look into this.

Check your IAC with the ohm test and follow terrys guide. I worked my way through all the steps and still had an idle problem. It ended up being my ecm. Just my .02 cents.

You need a new avatar rather than the one Derrick took of your car. :p

We should figure this out tomorrow too.
