Alright here is the story.....this is my girlfriends car. Her car skipped timing a few weeks ago and bent valves in the head. She had her car in the shop and just got a new head and other stuff done. She got the car back lastnight at 10pm and at 8am this morning she was on her way to work and a lady slammed on her brakes when a light turned yellow at an intersection in front of her going 45mph and she rear ended the lady. The lady i guess thought yellow meant stop. Here are pics...Does the car looked totaled?

***We are currently in the process of fixing this car. It is coming along very nice so far***

I'm going to say yes, especially because of how old it is. Hood, fender, headlight, front bumper, and probably metal pieces behind the bumper got bent up some.

Most likely,

Most AWD 1g blue book under $3k

You figure:
*New Hood
*New Fender
*Paint (they will have to paint the enitre passenger side to match)

That alone will be $$, not to mention the damage to the pop up housing

well paint is the last of our worries. If i could get hood and fender and all for cheap. I would fix all that myself. But does it look like the frame is bent. There are also like small lines that look ruined and elctrical stuff that i guess went to the headlights as well. And as for the pop up would that be hard to replace?

My main question is ..does this car look fixable if i got all of the parts? Or does it look like it is done?

Fixable? Yes. However, the price to fix it will be way more than it's worth. It'll be hard to find those parts that you need, especially electrical things. The hood, fender, and popup housing can all be ordered from the dsm graveyard I'm sure. The electrical connections you fried, probably not so much.

More than likely, it'd be cheaper to just let it go and find another car, unfortunately.

TOTALED TO AN iNS COMPANY YES.. TOTALED TO A DSMER... NO. FIX IT ALL YOU NEED IS A JUNK YARD LOL. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL 1GS IN GREAT SHAPE IN THE LAST WEEK AT THE JUNK YARDS OUT HERE

I work for an insurance company estimating auto damage so.....maybe.

Hood - replaced
Fender - replace
Front cover - repair
Radiator support will need some work and likely a pull
I cant tell about the frame
They will only blend the right door to color match, they will not need to do the whole side.
Used parts should give you some room....its mainly gonna depend on the milage and overall condition of the rest of the car...

my guess...yes. Take the money buy the salvaged title and get it fixed

IMO if you asked an insurance agencie they will say that it is totalled. From what I can see it looks fixable. I cant really tell what all the damage is from the pics but yea if you can get the parts I would try to fix it. I hate to see another DSM end up in the junk yard or be parted out.

Tomorrow we are getting it towed back from the junk yard. I will take most of the front end apart and see how bad the frame/supports are and what was damaged. It's hard to tell from looking like that even in person. However i know that i can get the hood and fender for nothing

Insurance company totaled? Yes. Project car totaled? No. Find out if they'll let you buy it back.

getting it back isnt an issue....I am getting it out tomorrow and just paying the towing fee and thats it, again the car just got put in there today thats where they took it right after the accident

I would definately work on fixing it. I have regrets for letting my Durango go that had minor damage to the front end. I am sure that I could have fixed it but i took the money and put it into another into car. If you let it go you will regret it.

It is totally fixable. i have many friends that fix cars that are wrecked worser than yours. they specialize in that and can fix it with new parts for cheap. they fixed my friends 2003 Mustang GT for $1300 including parts and labor, and he had flipped over in his car. i can help you get it fixed if u are willing to come to NC. other than that, try to look around for the best price.

thanks for the offer but i am gonna try and go at it myself. I think that if the frame is still ok it will be fine

yeah man its fixable. your frame looks straight from pics, but underneath is different story. a guy said someone backed into the car before i bought it. it looks the same as your pics (before i pulled bumper and fender off) and frame looks decent. just pull your fender and check it out first. the bumper shock thing was pushed all the way in and back out, but parts look fine. i think he put it in a ditch at 30 or faster, there was about 4 lbs of dirt grass and shrubs stuffed in there behind fender. and the oil pan has a small dent on that side, and wheel bearing squeals, might be axle issue. i would fix it! get the money, buy it back, and fix it. no worries!

you may want to check your frame, after looking at the pic's i see how bad the radiator hose is kinked, it also rippled the fender preity good. see if the wheel and strut are off center as well.
Any thing can be fixed for the most part, insurance will total it out, but i would pull it aside and slowie work on it. sucks to see it sitting there like that!

Good Luck with it :)

it doesnt look bad. it doesnt look like it got it got the coresupport. time for a 1gb front end.

I hit a deer @ 55mph and had no front bumper support because of the FMIC, it pushed the hood latch into the turbo and the lower rad support was touching the lower motor mount!! New hood, new fenders, new bumper cover, new fmic, new hood latch, and pulling the rad support with a skid steer, looks like new!!!

What a pain in the ass!!!!!!!!!

Good luck at fixing that thing up!

Meh... I wouldn't fix it. My old shell got hit in the exact same spot and was fixed. the whole front end never lined up right again.

No matter how much pulling and banging and shims I put in, things were always out of place.

If you dont care about looks and are fine with just ziptieing everything into place then, go fix it.

wow that thing needs nothing....totaled is the last thing that is

hood-45
fender-30
headlight unit-40 or so
bending the core support back straight with a truck and chain-priceless and fun LOL

the car is totalled only if u decide to take it to the shop and have they repair it which is retarded. junkyard is ## best friend when it comes to things like that. go to a junkyard and u can find those parts mad cheap then just spray them. i mean the cars a sleeper if it was stick and if i had the money I would buy it off u right now.
