I lurked a bit but couldn't find a great answer, so here it goes.

I am about to transfer the suspension on my GS-T to my TSi AWD, but I noticed that the rear has different parts numbers for the struts. I have heard that the only real difference are the springs and that they will still fig, but be a bit lower because of the weight of the car. Is there any validity in what I heard? Any input at all would be awesome.

Most coilovers are the same part# for FF and AWD. There's no physical difference between them. Given that the spring rates are in fact higher for a AWD, I'm sure the individual shocks that are made for AWD have more dampening as well.

here are two of basically the exact same picture however, the top one is the car as a fwd and the bottom picture is of the SAME car with the SAME suspension as an awd... the wheels are different but still 17" with the same tires.

Bringing up a thread. Are there disadvantages of running a FWD suspension setup on my AWD? I'm thinking of swapping suspension setups with a buddy who has a FWD, but need info first.

The rear struts on an awd are stiffer than fwd. There is more weight in the rear.
