Just wanted to intorduce myself. I'm new to tuners but have been around cars all my life. I have always loved the 2g eclipse since I first layed eyes on it back in the day. I recently picked up a 98 GST with only 62,xxx miles on it and a recently rebuilt engine no even broken in yet with some mods...nothing extreme (previous owner let her run dry on oil so the guy bought it off the kid and rebuilt it). Im really excited and cant wait to get back from my deployment to swap to a 6 bolt and make a high 11 sec car! I will get pics up a soon as I can! Thanks guys and see ya around the forums....:hellyeah:

Welcome to the site. Sounds like the car is in good running condition!

If its got a rebuilt engine and is running good, no need to swap out the 7 bolt! They are very capable motors. Save the money spent on motor+swap and buy some parts! :sneaky: :hellyeah:

Cory, a tech here at STM went [email protected] on a stock 7bolt with over 70k miles on it!
Check out the video I made of his car last year.

Welcome.

I'd run the 7bolt till the "wheels fall off". I had a 95 GST with a few mods and eventually I had to do the swap but some people get lucky. But I definitely wore that motor till it wouldn't go anymore before I spent the money on the swap. Good luck though, if you decide to do the swap it's a great learning experience. Let us know what you decide to do.

Cool....all this is great advice....I guess I will build wisely on this motor...I want it to be quick yet a weekend/daily driver...I will get a mod list up soon of what is already done so I can get an idea of where to begin from there...again thanks guys!
