Ok, this is a new thread specific to this meet date Sunday, 4/26/09.

DSMs from 1989-1999, turbo OR non-turbo, no matter the condition from clean to beaters, from bone stock to highly modified - whatever come and participate! Don't be embarrased even if your car is the biggest rolling piece of shit in the State that looks like it hit an IED - get on down there! While this is primarily intended as a DSM event, if you are an EVO guy or other car running a 4G63T engine thats OK too...

PHASE I:
Miami-Dade County DSMers are to meet initially at Tropical Park between 12:30PM and 2:00PM.

PHASE II:
GROUP CRUISE TO MARKHAM PARK - The Miami guys will depart Tropical Park not later than 3:00PM in a group cruise (NOT a race!!!) heading up to link up with the Broward and Palm Beach County DSMers. Our destination for the link up and overall meet is MARKHAM PARK (maps below). The basic route for the cruise is Palmetto 826 NORTH>>>>I-75 NORTH and Exit on SR84 WEST to where Markham Park is. I have a Garmin GPS and we'll be cruising not more than 55-60 mph on the highway so if anyone is not sure on where just follow me.

PHASE III:
"LINK UP" - the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County DSMers ALL meet at approx 3:30PM at MARKHAM PARK. We'll all hang there until.... whenever. Those arriving at Markham from destinations up there perhaps you want to get there earlier - say 2:00 ish?

IMPORTANT - READ THIS PART:
1) At the meet locations please do not go nuts with revving engines, BOV salutes, smoking tires, or stuff other park patrons almost certainly will complain about. The last thing we need is the park officers or cops to toss us all out. Just chill out and we can do this regularly w/o harrassment.

2) The group cruise is just that, it is NOT a RACE! We are all going to be one giant magnet for cops, aside from the dangers of street racing. Have your Driver's licenses and registrations, etc. straight and do not have any contraband because it is highly likely we might be stopped and checked by LEO. Please do not bring trouble on all the rest of us if you are going to do stupid shit!!! Thanks.

3) Everyone bring your own small cooler with sodas, MREs, whatever grub you want to eat.

4) Hotties of course are certainly welcome :)

seavee sounds like a soldier with "attention to detail" and the mentioning peoples cars who might look like they were hit by IED's but question whens the best time for a out of state dsm to come check out the scene in Miami

Guys, my laptop CD burner is not working but if bring to the meet a USB flash drive I can copy to it all the video from last meet as well as whatever pics and video we take at this next one. Make sure its at least a 2GB flash drive with space on it because the data file sizes are big. These drives are now very cheap and can be found at Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

I just ordered a "steady cam" device for the video camera which hopefully gets here by Friday. It will allow for example cool shots while walking next to the cars, without alot of shuddering and bumping of the image. See link below and scroll down towards the bottom of the page for sample videos of how well it works - especially the footage of the girl walking:

i wish i can bring my gst out there... you can go to sofladsm.com to let them know about the meet if you havent already

I think 3:30 is a little late for the Miami people to get to Markham Park....anyone else think so? Maybe 2-2:30 would be better? But I guess it does make sense since you guys still have to wait for whoever is gonna ride up to Broward, but just a thought.

I think 3:30 is the absolute latest we'd be getting there.

If we have a pretty full group by 2:00PM and there are still not additional people arriving by shortly thereafter we are gonna be rolling right about then, say 2:15ish....

I don't think its even a 30 minute drive to Markham from Tropical on a Sunday barring a bad traffic jam and thats with us right at the speed limit.

Ok fellas of south florida dsm, lately we have been slacking and doing bad in the latest dsm meets and this is no good. We need to keep the dsm spirit up !
I and 2 other dsm'ers will be helping me out with this and i need you guys' commitment to help make this next dsm meet happen.
One thing i discussed with another dsm member from down here is that the monthly dsm meet was happening too soon. Every month just didn't seem to be the best idea and practical for everyone, and people were getting bored with it quickly as attendance was off every month.
I was thinking about having the dsm meet happen once every 2 months and always announce it in advance in order to make a good outcome. Also the meet could happen one time in broward, then in the next 2 months the next meet happen at miami, and vice versa, to keep it fair.

If chris can chime in with my idea i would appreciate it. Any other opinions will be also appreciated and welcomed.

I'll try to keep this short and to the point since I'm a bit of in a rush here.

The first meet we had started with a pretty good turn out of DSM's for it being the first time, then the second month got even larger, and then somewhat died after that. I can't help but to feel that its somewhat my fault.

Text reminders/random flyers didn't go out to DSMers for last month and resulted in a pretty bad turn out. I went for about 20 minutes and left.

Long story short, lets make the very next meet the biggest DSM Meet South Florida has ever had. So that everyone can prepare, we'll be holding it 2 MONTHS from now, which falls on a November. Wanting it to fall on the last Sunday of the month which is the 29th.

I will do all I can this time to get word out, and make this huge.

Markham Park right now sounds like a plan. Please feel free to make suggestions. We want to make this fun for everyone, so don't hesitate to throw in idea's.

Cruise points/eating locations (Wendy's, MC's, ect) should also be discussed.

Also, should start posting in the Miami Section.

Sounds good chris. I think we should then make the next big DSM meet on november 29 as you stated at markham park.
If someone can chime in with how much entrance is would be helpful, i forgot how much entrance is.

Also i will print out my own flyers and spread them out to all DSM'ers i know of or see.
I will also ask my friends to spread the word out to other dsm'ers they might know of.

Lets make this next dsm meet a big and last meet of '09 !

Well November has come and i just wanted to pop in to remind all the miami and broward dsm'ers about this month's meet still going on the 29th !
Can't wait !

ok well we should find a spot in boca or like north ft. lauderdale for all of the northern people to meet up so we can all drive down together. if people are willing i think FAU would be a good place to start. but lets see what you guys come up with.
