will the 1g awd rotors work on my galant vr4?

Unless you've done a 5 lug swap to your GVR4, DSM rotors won't work.

GVR4=4 lug
DSM=5 lug

Yes, it will work. I have a friend here on Tuners, his name is illeffekt-VR4, he currently runs BAER's 1G front brakes and these are huge.

It sounds to me like the OP is asking if stock 1g AWD DSM rotors will work on his GVR4. They will not as DSM's are 5 lug and the GVR4's are 4 lug. Yes any kit for a DSM can be modified to fit a GVR4 or you can do a 5 lug swap but I don't think thats what he's asking.

A while ago, a friend of mine was contemplating the 3000GT VR4 OEM brake upgrade on his GVR4... Same issue: the 3000GT rotors were 5 lug, and he still was rockin the 4 lug hubs.

Rather then doing the 5-lug conversion, his fix was to drill two new holes in the 5-lug rotors. -You reuse two of the existing holes, IIRC.

You can always do the same with a standard size 5-lug rotor in a pinch. Just line up the rotor "hats" from the 4-lug & 5-lug rotors and mark your two hole locations... I think that we used a 1/2" drill bit, but you might want to double check on that.

Good Luck

ok, well i got the 3000gt upgrade kit on my car with the 5 lug hubs. works awsome.

rotors are 11''

We just call that the "Big Brake" upgrade since those dual piston calipers and rotors were a factory upgrade starting with the 1993 AWD cars and can be sourced from many cars including the NA 3000GT and Stealths. The 3S VR4/TT brakes are a different, more difficult swap requiring about as much work as putting the EVO VIII+ brakes on the GVR4.

I didnt know the 1gb's came with dual piston calipers. thanks for pointing that out!

I'm lost. Your GVR4 came with 276mm rotors and the twin piston calipers so how is that an upgrade? Now your car is 5 lug instead of 4 but the brakes are the same.

Only the AWD cars, the FWD cars still got the single piston calipers. And I thought the 1Gb started with the 92's so not all 1Gb AWD cars have them.

Correct me if im wrong, but the big brake 1gb's had the same set up as the 3/s na's? what kind of stopping increase am i looking at with the ebc green stuff on this? from stock small gvr4 "wanna be" brakes.

The GVR4 has the same brakes as the 1gb AWD DSM's. 276mm front rotors and twin piston calipers. If yours didn't someone swapped them out before you got it for some reason.

The only difference is the lug pattern, both share the same calipers and the diameter of the rotors are identical. Like I said, if your GVR4 had smaller brakes someone swapped them out before you got it for some reason.

Thats odd. Well now i know what they are for sure. All i knew is that my old rotors were cracked bad and needed help. how am i supposed to fit the e brake cable on the back calipers? is it direct bolt up?
