I suspect there is a thread on this but can't find one by simple searches, so I thought I'd make a new thread. Was looking at a couple of logs I made while doing launches and started to wonder about what sort of time constitutes a quick shift. In my last launch I was getting shift times of 0.4s which I suspect is not great, but would be interested to know how long other people spend when shifting.

My 3rd gear has been tough to get in on a couple of runs recently. Will have to change the gear oil and hope it's not the syncros dying in there. Just means I have to throw the gearstick around a bit harder!

I would think this would vary depending on what shift your doing, I would imagine the 2-3 is going to be longer then the 3-4 for most, etc. I'll have to take a look at some track logs when I get a chance to see how mine compare. I don't think I shift super fast at the track (& don't use NLTS) so will be interesting to see how they compare.

I just checked a couple logs, nothing super impressive, which I expected. My 2-3 & 3-4 range from .39 to .45 for most shifts. My 1-2 is actually the slowest (which I sort of expected), around the .5 mark .

I too am seeing anywhere from .3 to .5 second shift times, sometimes when i miss third it can take over a second though. I always imagine how much my 1/4 mile times would improve with a fully built auto tranny :D

Yeah, I'm not counting the shifts where I actually have to stop the car, walk back down the street and pick up what's left of 3rd gear off the road!
