Well I just received my manifold and downpipe. I have had the turbo for a couple weeks now which was off of ebay. It is supposedly a T3 turbine. So I get a T3 flanged downpipe and manifold. The turbo inlet fits fine to the manifold as it should. The exhaust side isnt quite there though. ha. Sooo, I am basically confused as I have looked for different size turbos, gaskets, flanges and other options to find what is going on here. ROFL Am I missing something or is it some sort of special T3 that I dont know about yet? :( The turbine is Garrett. Apparently the compressor is Turbonetics but anyway... The second pic is the downpipe

What's the problem? The part your showing is the 5 bolt hotside of a T3 turbo. as long as the inlet of the turbo where it bolts up to the manifold is the same then that 5 bolt pattern should be the same. Is that downpipe custom or did you buy it somewhere? I don't know any company other than hahn that makes dp's that fit our cars out the box so you probably just bought a generic dp that is made for a turbo facing the other direction that's all. Your still going to have to have it customized then.

It is a custom downpipe and manifold I got off of 2gnt. Its a T3 flanged dp and even the gasket I got for it fits the dp but not the turbo. The dp and gasket arent even close to lining up and are too small. Here is a pic of the gasket on the turbo and one on the dp. Fits the dp but not the turbo.

Well either your ebay turbo is a bad knock off of a 5 bolt which I would imagine is the problem or the guy that sold you the downpipe never bolted that dp up to make sure it fit.

Thats ebay for you.
The same thing happened to me. I just got a 5 bolt flange off ebay and it didnt line up perfect. However its alot closer then yours, im just going to egg out the holes and it'll work fine. I would suggest the same for you.
Just buy a 5 bolt downpipe flange and have a shop custom make the downpipe for you.

The downpipe looks like its used by the carbon buildup, though I could be mistaken, so I would imagine it has the correct t3 flange. So buying another pre-drilled downpipe flange would yield the same problem.

I would suggest having the turbine housing re-drilled to the correct pattern or possibly having a shop cut their own flange to match your turbine housing.

It's very likely that the ebay turbo was produced with the wrong bolt pattern.

You should contact a garret dealer and inquire about this problem Tell them exactly what you have and ask them if there were differn't 5 bolt housings. either that or just get a new flange made. any welding shop can do it.

Well I am still confused on this but I have tried two places that sell Garrett turbos and they didnt have an explanation other than I would need a flange made. I went over to a local machine shop that mostly deals with big orders and so he told me it would cost $600 or so, maybe less, to get it done which included tracing it out, cutting it, everything I needed. The turbo was 1/3 of that price so I am obviously not doing that. ha. I havent tried an exhaust shop yet but I figured the machine shop would be easier to make a flange....guess not

A exhaust shop will be should be able to make a flange. I have had a few made in the past. Because $600 is just ridiculous. You should be able to have a whole exhaust made, for less.

Well I ended up going to an exhaust shop and the guy told me they didnt have the tools to cut it but told me to take it to a custom fabricator guy that had a plasma cutter and did lots of those types of flanges so I did that. He basically made an outline of the flange using a ballpeene hammer and cardboard. He told me to come back later that day and he would be done with it. I came back and everything was finished. The biggest surprise is that he charged me $40..haha..compared to the $600 from the fabrication place...and it FITS too..woo
