I did some engine work recently on my 2G and couldn't recall which way the cam sensor rotating piece goes. I've looked in manuals and have done searches with no luck.

It can go 2 different ways. This is a picture of the way that I believe it goes with the timing belt marks lined up and #1 cylinder at TDC. This view is looking directly at the cam sensor from the passenger side. The red represents the where the piece is inset and the black is the piece protruding.

Could someone please verify this is correct
Thx

Could some unforseen circumstance be brought up by doing this and taking the chance? I don't think anyone can be sure but it's not worth the chance to me

tons of poeple do that but there are marks you can line up put it at top dead center take the sensor out then the little peace that spins there will be a mark or line on that and there will also be one on the case line them up and put it in with number one at TDC.

I'm installing my cam angle position sensor on a 97 4g63. I put 1g cams in, drilled/tapped the intake for my cam sensor.

there are two ways for the rotating-notch to be installed. It is not symmetric, one window is larger than the other. see pic below.

how should it be installed

Rotate #1 piston to TDC then install the trigger with the indicated mark pointed towards the sensor (towards the rear of the vehicle).

*Thanks to RRE for the picture
