Just finished engine

Earlier i had a cracked piston and i think a messed up rod, I recently got my dsm back from the mechanic and he re did my whole engine. all new internals. new stock pistons stock rods cams, crank everything, now any suggestions on what i should do about performance? i wanna turbo it, but i heard that the stock components won't be able to handle it. like i said, any suggestions?

If the plan was to turbo it you should have built it to handle boost while the motor was being done.. Forged pistons/rods and lower compression.

yeah, everything is stock. and i would have but it wasn't my credit card that was being swiped to pay for the job. i owe my father back. he didn't want me rebuilding it that way considering he pretty much payed for it

Assuming he did a good job on the complete rebuild, you could boost it around 10 psi with good tuning and 12 with REALLY good tuning. You would have no problem running 8 psi though which has shown to provide somewhere in the 220-250 whp range.

It sucks you couldn't squeak the extra 700 it would have cost for pistons and rods out of him.

I hate to keep but I just can't believe that you went ahead and spent all that money rebuilding a engine with stock parts with even a slight chance you might want to mod it when like they said $700 and the sky would have been the limit for you.

Anyway you can still squeez out 250whp out of her just. Your gonna need basic turbo things a long with a walbro255hpl or some kind of performance pump. Something to tune iwth liek MSnS Emanage portfueller ect. IS you don't go MSnS missing link fcd FMU SMFU are all terms your gonna want to look into. Searching will educate you on all teh particulars.

To be fair it wouldn't even have been $700.

$700 for forged parts minus cost for new oem parts that he paid for ($120 for stock pistons and however much for stock rods)

BUT, if you owe your dad this money for getting the car fixed in the first place, your priority should be paying him back not using your money for mods

Man when you think about it like that it makes it hurt even worse. I'm upset and it's not even my car that's how frustrating that is. Oh well a good stock engine can handle respectable power for a street car so I guess it's not a total cluster####

Your in NJ too I would have helped you do the work and saved you enough money to save up and buy the pistons and rods.

Strongly agree right here, pay back your father... then decide if you want to got the turbo route. You're not ready for it yet, because the money you saved your dad by not upgrading internals will bite him in the ass later if you consider going the turbo route...

Get a cheap intake, or a nice gst exhaust system for starters.
