Pretty straightforward. A friend and I plan to attend DSM shootout this year, we both live in Milwaukee. I missed last year, but the other 2 years that I went I was always lucky enough to find people to caravan/party with from Chicago. The people I've met en route to, and at shootout, have always been really cool and down to earth. It's a good community to be a part of.

So anyway, is anyone is leaving from Milwaukee, AMS, Gurnee, Chicago etc,.?

VENDORS. I accept vendors at the shootout. The booth space in the past has been $500 for each vendor. This year I am going to change this and see how it works out. This year I am going to allow any vendor to come into the event and the only fee that needs to be paid is the entry fee at the gate for each person that comes in.

CLASS SPONSORS. Always interested in having new sponsors on board. Each class is $1500 to sponsor. This gets your name on the trophies, announcements throughout the day about your business, your company display in with vendor status and 5 people. Saturday at our open house a limited size display can be put up at our open house. Your display space is unlimited on Sunday at the track.

Thanks for the quick response but .... anyone from Milwaukee/Gurnee/Chicago area??

I will be going to the shootout and am in the Milwaukee area and would like to go down with a caravan. If I take the eclipse we would have to make specific gas stops for some E85 though, so it might take a little longer. :D

i'm down!:thumb: i have a couple friends who will be meeting chicago to head over there! hopefully the gsx will be fully road worthy and i will be taking it! but yeah count me in! oh i live like two hours west of chicago.

I hope it doesnt rain like what I heard last year, because I am actually planning on going this year with a group of ppl. as long as I can come up with the money.

Ive never been to one yet, but this yr should be pretty interesting, especially after the whole Buschar, Magnus dispute....

Id like to see some 8 and 7 sec cars run as well.

i live in toledo oh which is on your way. but im a party pooper and not leaving until sunday morning so im not very fun LOL. But if you plan on rolling through on sunday morning ill cruise.

I have mapped it out and if we stop every 135 miles or so, there are e85 stations and I can make it there and back without having to switch to 91 or 93 octane. It does take a little while longer though, roughly 7 hours from Milwaukee.

Driving Directions from Milwaukee, WI to 6250 Ameriplex Dr, Portage, IN

I thought i would add a little input on your route since i live in the area you are traveling though. If you want an alternate route between your portage stop and your angola stop, I suggest you take I-94 east to exit 40, take US-20 east, in about 10 miles there will be a light and US-20 will turn north and wind all over, but SR-2 will go strait. Take SR-2 about 15 miles to South Bend and get back on US-20 east (the bypass). US-20 will go all the way to Angola. After you go through the roundabout, Gas America will be about 1/2 mile on the left.

This route will cut off about 10-15 miles, will take about the same amount of time, and no tolls. I travel this route at least twice a week for work.

I run e-85 in my car and Gas Americas are the cheapest place around here to get it. It sucks when you have to switch back to 93 because you cant get e-85. Have you located a station around norwalk?

Ill probably be leaving here sunday morning for the shootout unless my plans change.

There's two stations in Norwalk, according to E85Map.net and E85 Vehicles. There's also a station near Toledo, and one in Elkhart.

Before leaving, I'll probably print out a list of stations along the route, along with maps for getting to them from I-80, just to be on the safe side. Indiana definitely looks like the state to go to for E-85; too bad none of the travel plazas seem to carry it. :( Ohio is definitely more spartan, but better than it was last year.

Edit: here's a route map for those of us going to Norwalk basically along I-80, with convenient E-85 station destinations added.

Ive never looked for that one in Elkhart that you have listed there because its suppose to be unmanned.

That one is quite a ways away from the I-80 exit anyways. If you wanted to fill up in this area you would be better off taking my route and stopping at the Gas America in either Shipshewana or Angola. The shipshewana one is only about 1/2 mile out of route and the angola one is right on it. Gas America is always the cheapest place to get e-85 around here. If you wanted to take I-80 there really isnt anywhere to fill up that is close to an exit. I will try to verify the one you listed in Elkhart for you though, just to be sure.

when your going through toledo the closest one from 80-90 is going to be
Kroger #939
27386 Carronade Dr
Perrysburg, OH 43551
it take you about 15 minutes to get there from the nearest exit

Today I checked on the station in Elkhart mentioned previously. You have to have a Pacific Pride card to access the pump. Its at a Marathon, but you have to have a Pacific Pride card still.

I took my talon just in case i could get it there. Parked in front of the pump and went in to ask the attendant. Got the number to try to get a card for future use. Came back out and there was a city cop parked behind me waiting for the pump i was blocking. He even had his windows down. I only built the front part of my exhaust, so ive only got 3" from turbo back to just in front of the rear diff to a turn down. No muffler and loud. I figured he was waiting for me, but luckily he was just waiting for the pump. I snuck out of there as quiet as i could.

We have a caravan rolling out of Michigan anyone is welcome to join up with -
www.midsm.com

also a cheep place to stay is :

Campground's Website -
Index
looks like rates will be..
Camping = $24
w/ electric = $29
Cabin = $75
Park Model = $99

Meijer's isn't far from US-20, and carries e85 - no card needed. There are a couple other stations in Elkhart that carry e85 that aren't on that map; I'd have to go scouting for them though.

I think they were wanting to take 80/90. Meijer would be out of the way for that. They are over priced anyways. The Gas America stations i mentioned earlier are at 3.21. There is one in Shipshewana and one in Angola. I say skip Elkhart and make one of those your stops for sure.

For anybody that would like to know heres a link to current e85 prices. Just click your state and it shows where to get the best price. Its user updated, so not all stations are there, but most of the good places will be. 2.99 in portage, 3.21 in angola or shipshewana, and 3.59 in norwalk as of whats currently posted. Those would be my picks. Ohio seems limited and more expensive.

E85 Prices

Here is another link for finding stations, but they dont have prices. It is the most complete list of stations that i have found. Just put in your zip and it looks up the closest ones.
