Tomorrow the motor will be removed and be sent to machine shop. Im so done with stock internals and everything. Def lookin to spice things up and get some power from it. Got about 2gs to spend so what do ya suggest I get done to the block from bottom end to top end. Im always tryin to improve my fuel system as well so yeah. I just want some heads up stuff b4 I talk to shop about what exactly do I want done..... thanxs :dsm:

add information to your profile about what mods you already have. How much power do you want to have, or how much boost do you plan to run? If you're already turbo'd but on a stock motor, I'll assume you at least have a walbro fuel pump and FMU/SFMU. I'd say pick up some forged pistons (weisco, je) and rods (eagle) and leave it at that for now. Then spend money on your fuel system. Do you need injectors, an SFMU or megasquirt? Do you have a wideband? Buy the essentials you need for fuel and tuning first, then if you have leftover money in your budget you can go back to building the motor with cams or whatever you want.

cliffsnotes: tell us what you already have and what you want to do with the car. forged pistons and rods first, fuel parts and tuning if you plan to run higher boost, then back to the motor.

haha, sometimes it makes it easier to summarize what I'm saying at the bottom... but I guess that was pointless for a single paragraph LOL

Heh, I'm in kind of the same boat as you except my budget is around 5-7k for the full set-up. I haven't really figured which brands or sizes I want yet. I think you'd do well to assemble the block yourself. It will leave you much more money to buy fuel accessories. Top end should be fine it has been proven to withstand plenty of power.

Add to this everything chris has said as well.

Pistons and rods alone will cost you $700+, then add bearings, block prep (machining, assy, cleaning), gaskets, oil pump, head and main studs (ARP). You'll be at $2,000 before you know it.

CImotorsports Pricing:

Pistons:Wiseco 8.8:1 .020" #K580M88 $436

Connecting Rods: Eagle #CRS5472N3D $310

Rod Bearings: Clevite 77 Std #CB-1635P $40

Main Bearings: Clevite 77 Std #MS-2028P-STD $58

Head Studs: ARP #141-4202 $110

Main Studs: ARP #141-5801 $153

Gasket Kit Felpro Complete: $165

Oil Pump: Melling High Volume $130

Total: $1,402

Also add another $200-$300 so you can get that hood painted...

The sad ironic part of all these "I have x though dollars to spend" threads is it's always the guys that don't know how to spend the money that have it and us guys that have a list of stuff we want and know it are broke:(.

Anyway, 2 grand will disapear quick so I would do LOTS of research into your goals like chris said and then figure out which way you want to go. I think it's wiser to invest in two aspects of your car with 2k than to just half ass a bunch of stuff.

Says the guy with a list of about 8-10k in parts in his profile. ;) (What are you still waiting on before your build is ready to rock?)

Yeah that's true I guess I"m just greedy LOL. Well I just ordered a new hot side for my turbo because the one it came with is too big. Oil feed return fmic kit bigger injectors and my tuning setup which I already paid for just waiting on. That's about it. With about another $600 I'll be set for now then it's 1200 for a chromoly cage and 1200 for dss axles and 900 for quaife lsd and 400 for neon NVT350 trans and so on LOL

Im thinking of doing the long rod kit, but I havent read much yet, maybe the more experienced guys can elaborate on that as a possibility for your 2 grand.

The long rod kit costs $2200 through Howell. You're looking at about 3k for a master rebuild kit. It's almost cheaper to get a built long rod short block ($2900) and complete Indy head($1395) or Short Block and build up your head a little (Cams N Gears) or alot (rebuild kit $1299). Our heads are built to handle a little more than what was originally intended ;) All ofthe machining that would go into your block and head would cost about a $1500. SO it's a little more cost effective to buy new. Then if that goes out, you've got another block that can be machined and built. It all just depends on your goals.

I'm gonna save up when my build is done for s stroker long rod setup with low compression this time LOL and then do the rebuild with that stuff. As weird as it sounds the only thing holding me back now is my built engine ROFL
