So I thought I'd throw up a thread on the process of the ol' 1G for those of you guys that are wondering where the hell it is, and why it is taking so much time.

Well after being let go from work and not having the extra cash to fix er up, I'm finally back on track to getting her TO the track!

As she sits now:
Shes got the motor and trans out, and all torn down, spun 2 rod bearing and 3 main bearing due to lack of oil...I think it was when I eliminated the balance shafts and cut a piece of seal on the key way putting the front case back on the block. I didnt realize this until the Nov. 11th meet when I was all the way down in Tacoma and saw the oil everywhere and all down the side of my car. Barely any oil on the dipstick.

The new block has already had all the machine work done.
Crank, Rods, and Pistons are all installed with ARP hardware, and she looks beautiful.

I'm waiting for some funds to crawl back to me and I'm going to be ordering the rest of my parts such as a couple misc. gaskets I dont have, oil pump/case, and new Prothane mounts.

Once I get the oil pump in my hands I'll have everything I need to get the longblock assembled and ready to be dropped back in.

Every single part that I could wash in a parts washer has been done and there is not once spec of dirt anywhere on any part for this new motor.

ABS will be eliminated, just have to go down to 1ghaaaws house tonight to get the lines and install them sometime next week.
CC has been eliminated with a brand new throttle cable.
and Engine bay has been pressure washed.

It wont be long before shes back and running.
I'm hoping to make it to all these damn August meets but I may miss the first few, but there will be many more to come:)

I'll post pics later as I'm at work right now, but I have pics of the car and new shortblock being assembled!
Stay tuned everyone!:rocks:

Yeah, I'm a bit behind you on my build. My motor spun the rod bearings on 3 and 4 really bad, to the point that the machine shop doubts they would even be able to turn the crank...

So far on mine, my motor is currently at the machine shop getting the 7-bolt hot-tanked, bored/honed .020" over, deck surfaced, and crank checked and polished/turned/replaced (don't know which one yet). They will be installing the JE/Eagle setup I got on Craigslist for $350. ACL Race main and rod bearings and OEM main bolts will complete the bottom end. ARP head studs, Mitsu MLS headgasket, and HKS 264s will complete the head. I have a set of solid aluminum front/rear motor mounts on their way right now. :sneaky:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bolt-tech/289588-solid-front-rear-aluminum-motor-mounts.html

I will still need a new front case, full gasket set, heater hoses, and thermostat to complete the motor once the machine work and assembly is complete. AND DSMLINK!!! :p

I will be deleting my ABS as well, since that is the last "extra" that I have yet to remove. I'll also be cleaning the living hell out of my engine parts and the engine bay itself.

Just a couple weeks, that's what I'm hoping for... :shhh:

So here are some pics I decided to finally upload for you guys to take a look at!

Zac by chance where did u your port polish or other mods like that at? like shops?

My turbo is ported. Bought it from ExtremePSI.com like that.

and the block work was done at Action Machine in shoreline, all it is, is forged pistons, and fully machined, balanced, bored/honed block.

BTW
"DSM_ZAK" and "ZAKS Motor build thread" you spelled my name wrong chief :)
^^ Thought those would show you how to spell it :)

ohh opps my bad!

well i was wondering because im building my NA and then getting a TSI, GST or GSX and building that but i wanted to know a good place to get it done at.

The 4G63 NT motor is very similar to the turbo motor, which means the tunning options are limit less, if you have the money.

Options to make your car faster:

1.> Turbo swap (very expensive)

2.> Turbo Kit (less expensive, but hard to tune correctly with out help from a good mechanic)

3.> All motor (anything from pure engine, to nos)

so idk what to do LOL. i'll see you on monday:dsm:

an engine swap is not as hard as it may seem.

being FWD and all I would just go pick up an AWD platform and build from that and use the NT as a good DD for a good gas saver.

Trust me, gas is expensive on premium and DSMs, well, arent all that reliable from my experience.

you can get a good used longblock like I did for roughly 5-800 bucks depending from who, where, and milage.

Turbo swap onto an NA is not the smartest choice. You have higher compression, so the car will be good for a very short while and will pull awsome, but after a while, boom. Its going to give. Atleast from what I've read on the forums.

You can get a DSM for pretty cheap now days for a half decent one. Pull out a loan, or sell you NA and buy the turbo. I highly reccomend not to modify it until you have a second car, otherwise your 19 or so year old car will start breaking.

Just my .02

~dsm-hackeysak~ did you get your parts yet? i sent you a message but i heard nothing holla back brotha.

Thanks for the compliments guys!!

It wont be hauling too much ass until the injectors and meth goes in.
Its only running 15psi of boost at the moment. Just went ahead and built the bottom end for my secretive winter setup I'll be purchasing this winter :p.

Im hoping for 350 solid hp with the meth on and tuned for the street. Next summer will be 450-500WHP and running 10s.

1ghaaaaw: Yes I did come get the lines! Thank You again!!! Your a savier! My gf has the 10mm pipe wrench and wont be up here til saturady after BOTI, so sunday will be the ABS elimination day.

I have more progress on the car, just got the whole front case assembly on tonight, and water pump, oil pickup (had to modify it a bit) and oil pan. I'll take pics tomarrow and post up. I'm getting anxious!

Dang, I wish my build was that far ahead LOL. Everything is still in boxes sitting in the car. However, I just bought some 780's, a 3" downpipe, and poly motor mounts.... should have everything... the funds should be arriving any day now :rocks:
