Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone is familiar with Texas law but I am hoping to get some info..

I'm looking at a car that is out of my city. The problem I am having is the owner has the title but the car is not registered so it doesn't have any license plates. I am wondering if I can pick up something like temporary plates/registration just so I can transport the car back to San Antonio. I heard from a relative that I would have to pick up the temp stuff in the city the car is in but I don't see why that would make a difference? Unless I actually need the title in hand and at that point couldn't I just register the car completely?? I'd rather not do a bunch of running around in a city I don't know.

I plan on calling on Monday just wondering if anyone had a quicker answer!

Thanks.

Find a used car dealer or someone with the hook-up and just get some paper tags. I could probably get some for you. Or we've got a car dolly you could rent for cheap.

Ah ok here is my little follow up for those interested.

The only way to get paper plates in Texas is with a title or yeah from a dealer hook-up.

So i'm just gonna pay to have the car shipped. Sucks waiting for it to get here.
