Ok basically I am looking at possibly going to an external wastegate mounted on 02 housing. Reason is I know that I don't have enough room for an internal gate actuator on the side of the compressor (had issues on the to4e with fan clearnaces), and the reason I am not going manifold mount external gate is because well, I don't want to modify or change my current one. Anyways
was wondering for those that have a recirculating 02 housing with an external gate on it, do I have enough clearance between my radiator and an external gate? Does someone out there have measurements/have an 38Mm gate mounted on an 02 housing that can tell me how much room i need between the gate and my radiator?

here is what I am looking at for 02 housings...http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=21124&cat=1521&page=1

here is my pictures of my clearances..Also this is not a DSM. Thats why I am asking.

Most external o2 housings have a short piece of pipe that is slightly bent outward toward the rad for more wastegate clearance, like this one from Punishment:

If you can't seem to find one that will work for your application, you can always try to fab your own.

First problem is this isn't a DSM.

Look I don't want to buy one then pay to have one fabbed to fit. I just want one that will fit with my clearances. Also I am going with a recirculating style 02 mounted external gate. Like the one punishment racing sells. This isn't a DSM this is why I am asking for people that actually have one that can possible take a few measurements, to make sure I have enough for for a 38MM gate in there.

I realize this isn't a DSM application- I was simply stating that any o2 housing you find will PROBABLY be built similar to the one I posted if you're bolting it to a turbo that is DSM-flanged.

I have (3) o2 housings at my shop similar to this one, and ALL of them have the wastegate flange turn slightly outward toward the radiator.

on a 2g, with the o2 housing you want w/ recirc'd wg, it clears everything except you'd need to eliminate the ac condenser fan, or get a slim fan

I appreciate the info. However on the evo's the condensor fan is on the front of the radiator, because the engine bay/radiator clearances are much tighter than the dsm. Obviously being a 4g63 it should clear the alternator just fine. I was looking for a definately answer on clearances from my radiator as you can see there isn't much room, or someone who wouldn't mind measuring how far the wastegate is from the radiator vs turbo/manifold distance so I can make an accurate estimation.

thanks for the info though.:)

I thought all that was obvious at this point. Looking at the punishment racing recirculating one (in the link on my first post). As you also can see its a Borg Warner S200 series turbo also in my first post (s258 to be exact) with a BEP .55 AR housing on it. I thought all this was obvious... Turned towards the radiator doesn't tell me anything either as the chassis's are totally different between the DSM vs Evo 1-3.

Honestly I am not going to pay 300+ for something I might have to modify, thats pretty ridiculous. If thats the case I build my own(although I would rather just do a bolt on). Just wanted some answers from those with this setup, before I pay for something that may or may not work.

You will have to modify it if you go with the Tial38mm/Punishment combination in there. The Lancers have a similar clearance there as the Galant's.
I bought that exact same combination and I had to end up getting a Afco Scirocco radiator to make it all work.
This is how it looked mocked up in my bay. Note the relationship between the dipstick tube and the wastegate.

NOTHING was obvious to me. I couldn't get the link to work of the housing that you said you were interested in, and nowhere in your original post did I read "I realize any housing I buy will turn outward toward the rad, making it difficult to fit my wastegate in place."

Aside from a shorter rad or fabricating your own housing, you appear to be out of luck.

that looks like a tight fit, punishment tells me it'll clear everything in my engine bay except i'd need a slim fan...i'll take their word for it.

thanks man for your info. Man it is such a PITA to get answers sometimes from some people who want to talk about things I am not even asking...you know what I mean. Thats pretty much exactly what I wanted to know, you have been a big help. thanks again. :)

Fine. "I HAVE NO IDEA."

Will that compressor housing clear whatever fans you plan on using, or are you going with a pusher setup?

Yeah it will clear with a low-pro fan set up as a puller with some minor trimming (I wish I did have room for a pusher as my AC condensor block/intercooler is right in the way). The small compressor housing for the BW's are about the same size as the To4E's (only slighty bigger)... Just can't run an internal gate as the actuator would be right in the way of the fan.

When its all setup and done will post some pics.
