what's a dump tube for?
what's the deal with dumping out or in?

Where do i mount the wastegate if i have a tubular manifold w/no mounts for it?

Are you sure you are capable of owning a car w/ an external wastegate, I mean what is a dump tube? The dump tube is if you have an external wastegate dumping to the atmosphere and not being returned into the exhaust. The dump tube is usually just a pipe that is flanged to go on the wastegate and then it leads down so that it isn't dumping the exhaust into the engine bay. You can mount an external wastegate on the O2 housing, or on some turbos it can be mounted on the turbine housing. A wastegate that is dumped to the atmosphere is very loud, but there are slight performance gains. Also it sounds pretty bad ass.

alright it looks like theres a hidden pipe under the sheet metal, this is gonna be a pita to dump into atmosphere but oh well. i've done the bov dump tube cut and taken off my silencer thing at the turbo outlet. but it's not enough LOL. should i probably take the time to take it apart and measure my wastegate before i go and buy the 1.5" kit?

first off what silencer at the turbo outlet? do you mean the MAF silencer? second why would you cut your BOV tube unless you have a MAFT or standalone it makes your car run like shit. and yes we have heard of dump tubes...

Is this like the cobalt guy askin about his car being put in reverse and the motor spins backward?? or is this a serious thread

the one that was put on early 2gs, the only diff i noticed when i cut the tube was a louder bov sound.

hydrastas, just post a pic of your turbo setup. Do you know if it is internally or externally gated? If you are trying to dump, you need an o2 housing that seperates the wastegate port from the turbine port and you need to have just the wastegate port 'dumping'.

Oh, and i think the tube you're talking about is the stock BOV return tube inside the intake pipe. That has nothing to do with dumping your o2 to the atmosphere.

im sorry but have you searched, have you even looked at any posts/threads?
if i was you i would read befor posting a thread, it helped me alot just going throw the posts and just reading questions and 4++ pages of replays and you will start to see/ understand questions that you might have that have been enswerd.

anyways post a image of your set up and we will gide you, or at least try to

Well that's what happens when people don't pay attention to the start dates. At least it shows our members are searching, though. The original poster hasn't logged on since nov 2005, so who knows if he does anymore.

i can't seem to find any tubing near my wastegate other than the exaust pipe itself?

The thread seems to be re opened by hydrastas because he did a search about dump tubes.

This is a dump tube for an external wastegate. If your car is stock, it definately doesn't have one.

Some people also refer to this as a dump tube, but this is a BOV dump tube. The rubber hose connected from the BOV to this hard tube, and this hard tube itself, are usually just refered to as one piece.

You do not want to remove the rubber tube that connects the BOV to the intake. Yes, it's louder, but it's also bad. It's been explained. Just put that tube back on.

Pop your hood and take a picture for us. Someone here will tell you what you need to connect to get your car running right.
