First visit to the track

Well I finally broke her in and decided to take her on out the the track. Overall I am pleased. It was the first time ever I launched the 2900 6 puck so my 60 foot times were fwd like. 2.1 was the best giving me a 14.5 at 91.

Even a srt4 with hard pipes and very other small mods got a better 60 foot than me, but then it spooled I got by the 1/8 Then it was street eliminator for the grand nations and other buicks today, it was awesome.

I also was hitting a very little amount of fuel cut right at the top of 3rd with 15 psi on the 14b. So I will be rewiring it soon. I checked my plugs and the electrod was a gray color with black everywhere else and even some on the first few threads.

I will have to go next weekend with a pump and some octane booster to see if that cures the super tiny fuel cut. I think once I get more launch time I may hit a 13.

my first time i went 13.5 and my 60 foot was a 1.7 on a 16g and 550cc's...but mines a gsx with a 2600

Well I ona 2600 street disk i was getting awesome 6 foots but this was a 6 puck 2900 and I had never even taken off past 1300 with it . It was intresting. I did cut a .008 though

.008? Doesn't that mean that you red lighted? When I have drag raced a .500 has always been a perfect reaction time, with anything less being a red light.

You don't hit " A tiny amount of Fuel Cut"... It feels like you just hit a brick wall.

some timers start at .500, so his .008 really is a .508 in your terms. It all depends on how the meter reads, but it's the same thing.

Got it. Thats really good, I was only able to get my times down to about .7

I would rather have the bester overall time than reaction haha next weekend im going for a 13.8 with the pump and all.

I have hit fuel cut before and it didnt feel like it, it was more of a break up and small popping. I let off right away and coasted when it did it. The guy in the booth thought I was slowing down because I didn't have a helmet for a 13 second pass but I was like no I was getting cut or something.

What are your plugs gapped too?

I would try a new set of plugs and possibly wires.

See thats the thing, I put new ngk 7s in and they fouled out within the first 300 miles. The electrod and the white porceline was all black. and some black on the first few threads.

So I looped my MAP sensor back into a vac line and ajust some stuff and put another set in like o three days ago. So I pulled that set when I got home and its black around the bottom but the porceline is not covered black and the tip and almost the rest of the electrode is a gray color.

I gapped both sets to .28 according to RRE. I have NGK wires and the boots are good and they ran great on 6s when I had the t25 and the 14b on 6s prior to the 6 bolt swap.

These are the plugs from the track. A friend sid go to 8's but I know that 8's are not the problem. Tomorrow I will preform a boost leak test, can't hurt.

I 2nd that. 7s don't burn hot enough for 15psi on a 14b and will fuel foul, which you have found out. They have to have a certain amount of heat for proper ignition and they also "self-clean."

You probably won't need 7s until ~20 psi...well at least I didn't. IMO, Knock is the only reason that you really need to change to a colder plug.

Once you start increasing boost, CR, timing, leaner AFR, etc...anything that increases cylinder temps is when you need to start looking into colder plugs because the CC has added heat for ignition from those things. Also the plug will "shed" heat quicker b/w combustion strokes & not burn as hot. If the plug is too hot then it will continue to increase cyl temps and lead to preignition.
