Hello, all.
Well, I had my pedal assembly welded a while back to correct the usual issues. It worked okay for a year or so but now Ive got slop again somewhere else in the assembly and have decided to just swap assemblies since the old one is already welded and there is no going back.
I went to the junk yard today to pull an assembly. All the dsms there are nt 1.8 cars. Most of the PA's were worn, but I found one in a 93 1.8 car that was pristine, no play whatsoever. Now to the point: the pedal assembly is identical in appearance to my awd 90 assembly in every way exept that the large, coiled retention spring is non existant on this "new" assembly. Is this spring just not used on 92 and up cars or is it just not used on nt 2.0 and 1.8 cars? In theory I could just take the one off my awd but the lever on the new one doesnt have the extra length and the hole for the end of the spring to go into!! Id hate to put this sucker in only to have to rip her back out again!!! Perhaps someone with a 92- 94 1g turbo could check for the presence of this spring?
Thanks, Charles
