Might as well start a thread on this event..... I just signed up for the AMS south course track day at Autobahn June 17th. I went to this same event last year and really enjoyed the track. Facilities are top notch and it's a well-run, relaxed event.

AMS has the FULL TRACK on April 28th!! I had the priviledge to drive it a few weeks ago at the NSSCC driving school. I am hoping to be ready for that in time.

I agree, it's a great track and an awesome facility!!

I was thinking of attending the AMS track day on the 28th, however they changed their rules. The first time you get 4 wheels off course, your done for the day, no warning.

Thats a bit harsh to me. I can see coming in and having to sit out for a while or something. But done for the day on 1 off track is a bit much to me.

It may seema bit harsh, but there were a couple of events at Autobahn last year that were a circus of off track excursions. Lots of delays that decreased track time for others. There were lots of beginning drivers with fast cars that were in way over their head.

That's exactly why they have those rules. If you're NOT an experienced driver you need to admit you can't drive at the skill levels required for a race track and bring it down to a controlable level.

If you ARE an experienced driver then you know your limits and how to drive your car and keep it under control.

Either way, if you've got your head on straight that rule shouldn't bother you.

Agreed. I've been four wheels off only twice in over 15 years of track time.

your not driving fast enough then :tease:

however sometimes its best to go 4 wheels off track and get your car out of the way. certian tracks will have blind corners and/or elevation changes, if you spin out, it may be best to get yourself out of the way and just drive in the grass and get yourself turned around. Kicking you out for the first time with no warning is a bit harsh, i'd rather just attend another open lapping day at autobahn for the same price and not have to worry.

Agreed... if this was wheel-to-wheel competition, but AMS is doing time attack where there is only one car at a time, or single cars spaced out at long intervals, to avoid collisions.
Where is this event at?

I thought this was a lapping day and not a time attack. if its a time attack, i stand corrected. However, a lapping day is nearly a wheel to wheel session without passing and in the event my car slides sideways, I'd rather throw myself off track than spinout in the middle.

I understand what they are trying to do, however I feel its a bit too much, allow a warning to be given, or have the driver sit out during that session. Also maybe offer an instructor to ride along with the driver for the next session or something.

I don't know, just giving my $0.0002. <--not worth much
