toronto,
Hey guys,
Well my RPF1 weels are getting the boot in the search for more grip to the ground.(17x8)
I am looking at the VOLKs RE30 and well i was wondering is anyone here has them please post a pic and specs.

I will aprecciate that one alot, i am trying to picture how would they look in our cars, but i cant, i dont now if their look would be affected by the off set.

Thanks.

17x8 will give you a Type 1 face or whatever they call it. Least concave of all the ones offered. So in other words, it will be a rather flat face with limited 'dimension'. But that's all useless babble from me. Here's the picture of the RE30's on a 2g (18x8.5). These wheels have the Type 2 face and Type B lip.

i just picked up some mb racing weapon wheel , they are 17x9.5 +27

i will take a pik when i get tired on them. i fitted the wheels on the hub and i have almost an inch clearance from the arm the goes from the control arm to the hub and they stick out like 1/2 to an inch out from the fender.. im gonna roll em out a lil bit...

What do you guys think the offset is on those wheels?

-Thanks.

O.k i guess i was daydreaming, i was doing some price research and there is no way i can afford those wheels at this moment, But i see that rota has the replicas and those i can affored after i sell my RPF1's.
My suspension will be coming back from john's shop at muller,(JIC's) and it will come with stiffer spring rates of course, so the question is this: Can i fit the Rotas svn that come 17x9? +30 in my car?
I was reading and trying to find info on this this but i did not find anything usefull,
This is the closest i found:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/293183-18x9-24-235-40-a.html
And then this:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/handling-tech/282139-new-wheels-18x9-5-22-stock-body.html

But still i dont know if this will will fit even if i have to play with fender a little.

here are the options that Rota gives me for the SVN's.
18 x 8.5 +44/+45/+48 5h x 114.3
18 x 9.0 +35 5h x 114.3

And of course i want to fit the 18x9"+30

Thanks,
for the help guys.

+40. Sorry I forgot that important detail. :) Why go 18x9 +30? Wret fit a 255 on his car that was 18x8.5 +40 and it didn't stick out. Bridgestone makes the RE01R in 255/35/18. I think Toyo might be releasing the R888 in 255/35/18 later. 235/40/18 comes in a million tire options as well.

Just because Falken does not make 255/35/18 on azenis.
And 235/40 would be a waste of 9" wheel, no?.
I think i am getting all twisted here, Anyways would 18x9 +30 or 35 fit in our cars?

No, 9" wouldnt be wasted. But it would be a waste to go from RPF-1 to rotas. I personally think you would be better off with a set of 17x9 RPF1

Yes i know, but is just that i want those wheels i really like them.
The RPF1 were o.k, but at 8" they didnt cut it for me.
And well..... i really like those wheels.

Hey flash, I saw a post where i though you were looking at geeting those RE30, Did you end up getting them. Any pics?

One last time, Will 18x9 +30 fit?
How much rubbing would be and would the rub be in the inside or in the outside?
I am thinking it would be the out side, would rolling the fender a little fix that?

I am thinking they would stick out to much, no?
Damn i am loosing it.

Thanks again.

That is a picture of my car I posted. :)

What size tire are you using?

If this is 18x9 +27 , Then 18x9 +30 should be o.k?

My jic's are coming back from muller's shop, so the rate should be stiff enough.

Thanks.

Is 17 x 8.5 to minimal of a gain for you?? If so you can make the RPF1 fit comfortably with 245/40AR17 tires. Seems like you are on a quest for 18 x 9 though. Just wondering aloud.

hey guys so in the end i end up getting Rota G-forces the wheels were made for evos but i gave them a try and they look awsome on our cars. Here:

Now i have a another formula for you guys to see if you can help me, I have found a set of fnorc-1
5Zigens for next to nothing but the wheel offset is very low, But then again i might cut it, This 5zigens will be for road racing.

The rota G-forces that i have are 18x9 +30, and have 235 40 18 falken rt615 tires.

The 5zigens are 17x8 +15 and i will be using 255 40 17 falken rt615. Do you guys think that 5zigens will stick out too much? Or you think i will be fine?

Thanks,
-Manuel

The 5zigen will be right about the same, with the rotas sticking out just a mm or two more than they 5 zigen will. Thats just wheels dimensions of course

Yes there is a little rubbing at the back, its minimal but i will have to fix that problem.
Nevermind about the 5zigens there are 17x9 +15 i read it wrong, and that is out of the question on stock body.

I will have to keep looking.

Thanks,

-Manuel

My first question to you is this - are you going to be seriously competing? If not, why go through all of this hassle and expense to go from an 8" wide wheel to a 9"? You can fit pretty close to the same width tire on both. And the added grip you may or may not get will probably be minimal anyway. You may save yourself a few tenths of a second on your lap times, maybe.

If you're tracking your car for fun, it just seems that you're spending time and money on something that isn't going to yield much in terms of results if you're using street tires. I would suggest just saving up and buying a cheap set of alternate wheels that you can throw some race tires on for the track. That's going to make a ton more difference and will make your track days way more fun.

Seriously, to all those wanting to have fun and go fast at the track, get yourself a second set of wheels and put R-compounds on them. Drive to the track on your street wheels and put your track wheels on when you get there. It just seems like such a waste to see people putting so much effort into trying to find the perfect wheel and then watching them put a street tire on it for track days.

Which ones? VIII's, IX's, MR's? I was looking into them but i wasnt sure of the offset are all their offset the same?

like said a million times, race rubber will yield the best bang for the buck!

regardless, those are some really good lookin wheels.

2nd set of track rims= Evo wheels with 255/40/17 R- compounds. 'nuff said

thats what i ran on my talon, i dont think you'll get a wider tire to tuck on a 2g.

Which ones? VIII's, IX's, MR's? I was looking into them but i wasnt sure of the offset are all their offset the same?

I am 99% they are all a +38 offset. You'll have the best luck finding a set of VIII wheels for cheap. the BBS's on the IX's go for at least twice of the VIII enkie's.
