Meth with Toluene?

Well, I've found out that methanol is a controlled substance in Japan, which means it's not really available to the general public (until I become friendly with someone in a construction/painting firm). However, while trawling the hardware stores I managed to find something in the pain section which seemed to be a Toluene/Meth mix of some descript. I'm not so sure what the meth content was on it as it was poorly labelled and I doubt the store would know either. Was wondering if I could use this in a distilled water/meth+toluene mix. It was about $35 for 16 or 17l of it which is probably as good as it's going to get here.

Toluene is more commonly added to gasoline. I dont know about it's properties when injected as far as cooling.

Just heard back from Devils Own and their word is that the toluene will eat the seals. Ethanol would be a decent substitute but that's $10 for 500ml here

I thought ethanol was cheaper than gas?

What about running other alcohols like isoprpyl (rubbing alcohol) or somehting like that? Can you not even find washer fluid with methanol in it there? That might be your only hope ( running blue juice), so you could look for the -40* stuff since it's supposed to be closer to a 50/50 mix.

I own a painting business here stateside, too bad you couldn't use my name and setup an account to buy it there, of course i'm sure they wouldn't recognize my US business license in japan.

If it were we'd all convert over. It is cheaper to produce by far. But for some devilish reason these capitalists won't charge less.

It's 102 octane too. Go figure.


I've had great cooling results with Isopropynol. We don't pay a sales tax on it in VA. And it is very cheap. It has 101 octane. But that is inconsequential to the cooling properties and when mixed with water it provides very similar effects to wiper fluid (30% meth).

May have to do that, although I know washer fluid isn't recommended as it can clog up the filters. Only problem with that is that here they don't tell you how much methanol is in it. They will only say on the bottles that it contains methanol.

None of them i've found have said their percentage either. I've just been told that -20* stuff is 30% meth, and -40* stuff is 49% meth 49% water and 2% dye

Separate meth from regular wiper fluid: the Charles 803 . It's cheaper than HEET (12oz. for $4 here).

OK, a little update after a 5-hour shopping excursion I've been on looking for methanol. Have visited every large car supplies store on the island, as well as most of the shops which sell hardware/camping equipment (except one which was closed when I got there) and about 10 different pharmacies.

WWF: Not great news. The cheapest stuff here in Okinawa is 5% methanol, and the most expensive ($10 for 2l) was still only 30%. Guess the fact that we don't get cold weather means there is no demand for anything higher.

Camping/hardware stores: No joy at all. All the lanterns use gasoline, butane, propane or similar. Not a single one used ethanol or methanol.

Pharmacies: Very limited success. At the last pharmacy I found they had a small supply of 95% methanol/5% ethanol. This stuff cost $8/l so to half fill my tank (the rest being water for a 50/50 mix) would cost me about $40. Ethanol and isopropyl alcohol (50%) was the same price. Unfortunately, they only had 2l of it. So I've bought the methanol/alcohol mix but am no idea what I'm going to do in the long term. It's looking either very expensive or that I'll have to go for a very weak meth/water mix.

if you have anyone close who works at the hospital or clinical industry, you will be able to get Methyl Spirit, its the chemical that they rub on ## ass before the doctor injects you

You know pure water injection does very, very good. It's still an amazing knock retardand and aftercooler.

You could look into propane injection too. Injects ice cold and doubles as a high octane fuel. There have been great success with turbcharged vehicles all around.

washer fluid might be your best bet there. I have heard from others that methanol can be hard to come by there.

Problem is, here in Okinawa anything over a 33% meth content for washer fluid is tough to come by. Am having to buy 95% methanol from pharmacies; not cheap by any means but the best I can get.

add water to it. shake, let settle. the hydrocarbon toluene will seperate out.
