what is the top speed on a 1996 gs-t? and does the apex-i safcII take the limiter off? :dsm:

The ecu is speed limited on a 2g gst to I believe 130 due to the stock tires not being rated for a higher speed than that. On the 2g awd the limit is just whatever the horsepower can climb to.

Not to sound hypocritcal, but what is the point of that question.
Im going to have to just throw this in there, if you do manage to remove the 130 speed limit
( hopefully with better tires than stock at the least) i must say there is no reason you need to worry about "top speed" unless you have enough power to reach the top of fifth at the track, or unless you are going to the autobahn otherwise I suggest you dont try and do top speed runs not worth the trouble...

learn somthin new everyday. so the awd 2g's dont have a speed limiter? hmmmmm i was thinkin that when my window wipers blew up at 150 on the salt flats. that was pretty much the only place where i can see top speed being achieved legaly without safty being an issue. i hit 165 before the fiberglass front lip on my first 2g flew under the car and i let off. they move pretty far in 5th gear

Only 95 ECUs can have the EPROM chips. All 96-99 are non-EPROM. So if you want a chip from DSM Chips or to get DSMlink you need to find a 95 EPROM ECU. And keep in mind that not all 95 ECUs are EPROM.

1. We won't be finding out on the street.
2. Don't be pissy. That's my job.
3. Aw, just shut up.

Check the 1000AAQ for speed numbers. Anyone curious to find out first-hand in a car that's over a decade old has the brains of a cabbage.
