hi guys, I just go back from the track tonight, I am dumbfounded, earlier last week I spent
a hour on the dyno, and came out with a peak hp of 293 hp, had issues afterwards reguarding spiking at 21 psi , fixed that issue, averaged a/f at 11.2ish,, anyway my wost run was 9.8sec best was 9.4sec, I seem to have bad problem getting the car out of the hole fast enough, I think im lettiing off the clutch too early and not enought gas?, any suggestions

It feels like its in a slump trying to floor in 1st gear.

PS: dyno stats are as you see not up to date, and with these new figures I was scheduled to get a new act 2100 clutch tommorow, do you all think I really need one?

You should be at low 14's-1/4 or 8.5-8.9 or better in the 1/8 at least you need to work on launching better.

The 2.29 60 foot is killing your times. That is what front drive 60 foot launch at.

your 60' is very bad for a awd your mph is down a little two, you must be boggin it down. My fwd on average with a stock 6bolt/head/cams/turbo with a intercooler on 12 psi would run (9.01- 9.20) at 80-82 mph with a 2.2- 2.3 60' in my 2g. try reving it up higher of the line (4000-5500) and shifting faster.

My car is making about the same power as you and with full weight my car put down these numbers. More practice on the launch and you should see better times. I've gotten 1.6 60' times out of my car and I'm generally in the 1.7s on just regular BFG street tires lowered down to 20 psi.

R/T .799
60' 1.800
330 5.471
1/8 8.472
MPH 83.10

I would highly recommend the ACT clutch. I recently put in a 2600 with street disk and I love it. It holds so much better than my CFDF did at these power levels.

thanks so much everyone, I've been talking with one guy from work, to try to improve this, I dropped the car off today for a ACT 2100 clutch, water pump, timing belt, balance shaft belt, so in a few weeks I'll give it another try and not to be so nervous:coy:

Be sure that you give that new clutch a nice and easy 500 miles of break in before you start haveing fun launching on it.

Yea, if it's not too late go back for the 2600 or have them wait til you can get one. I smoked my 2100 in a FWD car in a matter of months and that was making around the same HP you are (maybe a little more) by the time i had made 360 fwhp and drove for a few weeks teh 2100 was done for and like said that was on a FWD. Everytime i would hit third the clutch would just let loose and the revs would go to 7k while the car barely moved. I now have a 2600 with street disc and it's been good to me only slipping on a few really bad passes of hard abuse where i was slipping the clutch in third to get in the powerband on the top end.

As for your times, you really need to launch harder, on my FWD with street tires and an LSD i'm bogging my launch at anything under 5k RPM's. Also are you launching off of a re limiter? If not you can use one to help build a little boost on the line so that the motor is producing more power when you launch instead of being at 100 or less horses during just a mid throttle free rev (i hope you get what i'm saying about that) I've pulled 1.6 - 1.7 60' times on my FWD with slicks, so i know you can do it on an AWD w/ street tires.

Looking at your profile i don't see anything that would give you the option of a 2-step limiter. If you were to upgrade ignition modules to say a DIS-2 or something that would give you a 2-step for a decent price, not to mention stronger spark!

Look at my profile but I ran 14.7 and a 2.3 in 60' time and a bit more practice a week later I ran 14.1 and 9.025 in 1/8th and 1.9 in 60' im pretty stock with an oem clutch that is slipping (clutch is in the mail) seat time seat time seat time. also I dropped my air pressure to 25 psi all the way around that seemed to help on launch.

uggh, its too late for me to go to a 2600 clutch, when I called them back, they had mentioned however, that the xfer case is ####ed, probably since I did'nt check it in 4 years :(

FWIW - I ran a Turbo Clutch in my '95 AWD for almost 60,000 miles. That pressure plate is comparable to the ACT 2100. The car ran a best of 12.8 in the 1/4 with 1.6 - 1.7 60 ft times. A 2100 will work fine if you only drag the car periodically. I still would suggest a 2600 however, as there's no real downside.....but I see you're locked into the 2100.

yep , i just hope they can find a xfer case for that year , I think its a 23 spline?, ohh well I 'll find out today :)

I'd say around an 8.3-8.4 range. Practice on your launch. Launching is everything. If you suck at launching your car, everything else is gonna suck as well. You're having to play catchup to make up for your lack of launching to get the better time but with an 1/8th mile track, time clicks away pretty freakin quick.

Just work on your launches and you'll do better I'm sure. I think that you're clutch will be a weak link in your setup. I also believe that asking this question you are not a drag veteran so like I said in the beginning, it will probably get better with practice.
