Winter 07/08 Projects and Plans?

I've had mine for about two years now with no problems or concerns. It's nice to know there is at least one part of my setup that I don't have to think or worry about. You'll get used to your new found handling in no time.

Funny and so painfully true. I can't tell you how many times I have one eye that starts to close at the end of a long straight away thinking that my whole DSM universe is going to explode.

I dont worry about my car....if it blows up it blows up. Just have to replace the weakest link and move on. Eventually the car will be bullet-proof.

I used to have that attitude. Several thousands and a child later priorities shift if you know what I mean. I'd like to think my car is bullet proof but something always rears it's ugly head...like mice.

There's a lengthy application that you get to fill out before the build begins. Has some specific questions (such as mods, purpose, weights) and then lots of psychology like questions (on a scale of one to ten, rate tire wear compared to lap times).

It's a pretty in depth, as the race shop that does my alignments pretty much asked the exact same thing about how they were setup. John's also been very helpful in finalizing the alignment despite being a few states away. She should be set by Thur. pending some tuning before the weekend.

It's not a DSM deal but it is a winter (car) project. I previously alluded to the pinkcar>blackpinkcar upgrade. After half the winter of doing headgaskets and a few  other things, I now have a functional blackpinkcar. Pinkcar is sold. Keep in mind that these are/were both winter cars and that blackcar (the talon) is still going to be back on the track eventually.

BTW, they were/are both manual trans. cars, so as not to be overly mundane.

Here are the after/before pic.s:

Well, I got the switch plate made up and put in the 1st part of this week. Things have been hectic at the "real" job lately getting ready to go to a convention in Vegas the 1st part of May so I have been swamped there. Other than that, like I said, I got it in and a few switches (fuel pump & fans) all mounted in there. Looks a lot better now that you cant see all (most) of the wiring under the dash. Still have a hole to fill in with some angled aluminum or plastic peices painted black to totally fill it in. And some wiring to clean up. But other than that, it is coming along how I pictured it in my mind.

And again I am no master fabricator here with just an idea drawn out on paper, some plastic and a dremel to work with. But like I said before, all this is for function more than it is any attempt to win a car show or fabricating contest. It works just how I need it to work and does not look like total crap :D Here is the pic of the switch panel in there.

So Eddie, when will you be ripping that engine apart?

Well I ordered my Innercooler earlier this week along with my Injectors so.....Should not be too long now. I am getting ready to go to Vegas tomorrow morning for 6 nights so all my energy and attention I am sorry to say have been gearing up for that.

I just got back my $600 from the government as well and it will be going to the labor so it should be within the next 2 weeks it goes to the garage to get torn down and ready to put all the new goodies on. I'll make sure the garage takes loads of pictures where they can and post them up here so everyone can see what is going with the car.

$600 huh? that would cover a round trip plane ticket ;)

My summer plans include, full rebuild, new head studs, cam gears, clutch, dsm link, valves and springs, valve job, new intake, tires, finally and exhaust tip instead of 3 inch into cut out stock muffler, new oil pressure gauge, motor mounts, zacklee timing cover, install my msd ignition. And more that im sure I will come across that needs to be replaced.

Getting the engine built a simple 2.0 combo.

And "bought" a few things (still have to pick em up) Built head with HKS 272s, 1mm oversize valves, port and polish, 3angle valve job, crower springs and titanium retainers and fidanza adjustable cam gears.

Also will be picking up a borg warner s256 from VIP Garage.

Also some 18x8.5 5zigen FNO1RCs in hyper black.

Unfortunately I go to college and had the car 2 hours away from me. Finally finished finals this week. Got back sunday night and worked on her yesterday and today. Engine is ready to come out, interior is mostly stripped out, and ive been selling shit left and right to try and afford this build. The engine will be out tomorrow if I remember to pick up my friends engine hoist. Suspension is also all apart as im going to start in the painful job of new suspension bushings. Anyone know of any urethane sets for sale?

I have prety much decided to junk this season and wait till next one. In a week and a half I leave for 3 months to China so I wont be back till august. Thn I have to break in the motor so most likely I wont be out this season. Tis the luck of the dsm!

Well I was thinking of doing the prothanes because they are stiffer, but is there really any real differences? Can anyone chime in? I kind of want to do this once, and plus I heard the prothanes are easier to install. What are you looking for the urethanes for?

Alright man, let me know paypal or whatever you want the money int he form of and how much! Really appreciate this!!!

Well, I dropped the car off at the garage yesterday so they can start all the work that is going to happen on it. They are trying to finish up a turbo install on a NT DSM right now so the work will not start right away. First things first though, the motor is going to be coming out to start off with. Then everything that does not need to be in the engine bay will be coming out. As well as anything else on or in the car that does not have to do with it running will also be coming out. I'll get some pics this week of it in the shop and have told eveyrone there to take as many pics as possible when they do work......It begins :D

Hey guy's,

I've taken a few year hiatus from DSM's, I'm getting ready to put my car back together this spring. I'm hoping to do a little autocross and maybe a NASA event or two? I'm looking into the Colorado schedule for the summer. anyone else other than ludacris out here on the front range?

Ran the Winged Warrior event last weekend. I'll have a write up to come.

Basics though - did well in the autox, fastest fwd that I know of. Beat many of the rwd and awd cars there, drags though my car dropped from a 13.1 on a 2.1 60' @ 112.5 mph to a 14.5 @ 99 on a 2.6 60'.

Ran a cold compression test after towing it back home from the event and found 125-110-75-120 on it. Gonna call it a season til I get another motor in. Unfortunately the new truck payment is eating up most of my expendable income so who knows when I'll actually get the new motor put back in and running.
