Im looking for 450 awhp on pump gas. I have all supporting mods. No meth or race gas ever. I will be doing 1000cc injectors, Punishment Racing's budget t3 manifold with external flange, and their 02 housing. Ive been getting a lot of opinions and some are saying to big with the scm6152r and some are saying 50 trims. I think I want to go ball bearing either way and I want to spend around $1,100 on the turbo at the very most. I would rather go a little bigger then smaller. I dont mind sacrificing some spool time as long as it hits hard up top but then again I dont want to wait around till 5k for full spool either. (2.0- Fp1x cams-stock intake manifold-1st gen pistons) What do you guys think of the Punishment budget manifolds??? Thanks for your help.

Why no meth injection? That's pump gas's best friend.

Anyway, you could get there with lots of turbos: S25x, GT30R, GT35R, 50-trim, etc. You can get these in T3 or Mitsu turbine housings, so you may be able to get away with not buying a manifold. What're you going to need the car for? Excellent drag times or street drivability?

Why are you dead-set on ball-bearing?

I drive this car every day and I want a car that is fast in a straight line. I also want it to spool fast as possible (thats why Im leaning toward BB) and have big top end power. I know Im asking for the best of both worlds on a budget, and I said no meth because Im trying to keep it cheap. I was looking at the 3071r but I think I like the Precision SCM----R line of turbos. They are a little cheaper and there are alot of options through them. If I can buy a turbo from extreme psi thats non bb and if it spool around 4300 I would be happy. I havent ridden in any big turboed dsm so i dont know what to expect i guess. My friends neon with a 3071r pulls good and spools quick but i know my 2.0 will not be like his 2.4. It made 460ish which is around my goal, but my smaller displacement might limit me. Might have to go a little bigger.

I would get a gt3082r for your goals. My friend had one on his 1g and ran a 10.96 at 33psi on race gas. He should have been able to run around 10.4 if he had traction, if his clutch wasn't slipping, and if he had no boost leak at the throttle body. With pump gas I am positive you can get what you want out of this turbo with decent spool.

From what I have seen thats a 1400 dollar turbo. About 400 over my price limit. If money wasnt an issue I would buy the FP3065 or a 35R. Thats why Im leaning toward the PTE SCM line of turbos. I hear they dont last as long as more expensive turbos.

its a lil more difficult to hit 450awhp on pump . You need a big turbo but the only downfall of that is that most turbos of this capability dont hit their efficiancy range until 25+psi. which in most cases isnt pump territory.

I personally have an sc63 and it full spools at 4600. I daily drive it and the lag doesnt bother me at all.

Im ordering the 6152R with the 4"SP cover and .63 a/r Mitsu flanged with some 1000cc injectors. Im just going to make it work with the rest of my set up as is for now. I know bigger cams and a SMIM will help alot but it is what it is. Why is there so little information about the ball bearing turbos from PTE? Any one run one? Any info would be appreciated.

First, a 6052 does not have a gt35r compressor.

Im getting the ball bearing one

So you're really thinking the BB centersection really makes a huge dent in the lag? Even garrett boasts only a 15% increase in spool speed. You could reach your goal with a typical 50-trim. You definately went "little bigger than smaller". Your spool will be slow. MY 60-1 (identical comprssor) with a faster spooling turbine wheel and an even smaller turbine housing still spooled to 20psi after 4000rpms. It didn't hit hard. It had a smooth powerband. A larger turbine like yours will be even more linear.

Don't get me wrong, though. It's a great turbo!!! I LOVE the t3 stage5 turbine with the 60-1. They work perfectly together with a well matched setup. But you've got useless lag for your goal. I wish I saw this thread sooner. You hav PLENTY of turbo for your goal. Get some 1150s and go for more. You have room. You'll like the top end pull :) .

Water/meth injection is a staple of pumpgas power. Who sacrifices over 100% intercooler efficiency and 110+ octane burn rates because they don't want to check their water tank levelWTF?

My opinion, either an FP3065 with an fp manifold, or if you want to go garrett, either a true GT35R or the HTA variant from FP is a very nice turbo.

Manifold for bolt on garrett usage? ERL cast stainless manifold.

Yeah Precision sent me a damn 3" cover so the 4"SP will be here this Tuesday and will be going on and be tuned the same day. I just smashed on 2 Supras this weekend. We were doing like 30 or 40 rolls till over 100mph and I got the single turboed one pretty bad. I think im going to miss my evo 3 but then again maybe not. Ill post numbers here as soon as i have them with some pics.

How is the spool. Is it better/worse than you thought it would be? It sounds like you're happy

Now I know the 4" cover on Precision turbos WILL NOT bolt up directly using a 2g manifold. I had to use a spacer between my head and manifold to get the cover to clear and keep in mind I dented my water pipe too and it barely fits. I also had to get longer studs. Using that spacer has changed the geometry of the down pipe arrangement and that will also have to be delt with. Definitely not an easy install. It should be on the dyno tomorrow hopefully. I will post numbers.
