Hello..

I've been looking into DSMLINK and have a couple questions for you guys...

1st of all the full throttle tuning doesnt look bad at all and in fact is pretty straight forward...

the real questions I have for you guys is this... if you are to rev a motor above 8000 RPMS how do you compensate for that???

HOW DO YOU TUNE FOR PART THROTTLE??? to lean the car out on the interstate for better gas mileage ETC!!!

and lastly for timing, if I decide to pull 1 deg. of timing at 4k rpms this does this at all throttle positions correct??? so even at part throttle I'm going to be comprimising my fuel map??? how does this affect driveability...

basically I'm asking this... If I throw 1000cc injectors in my car with a T67 with twin walbros and a GM MAFT... will i be able to drive this Turd around on the street and tune it for DRIVEABILLITY!!!!! not just wide open throttle...

and how do you tune the driveability????

thanks so much guys!

Andrew.

Tuning for driveability is mostly done by adjusting your airflow sliders(calibrating the MAFT with a map sensor or Wideband),fuel injector dead times and global settings.

You can use up to 1600cc with link and get the car idling and cruising like a champ.

There's also a VE table you can use with the Fake maf feature if your overuning the Gm maf.

Dsmlink will use whatever you put in at 8,000 rpm.

This is why you tune your fuel trims with the airflow sliders.

Only during open loop operation. During closed loop (cruise for example) it will use the stock timing map.

I guess I just dont understand the part throttle...

can someone idiot proof type this for me!

thanks
Andrew!

For all intents and purposes part throttle operation is meant to be as close to stock as possible.

I do understand this, but lets say cruising on the interstate with my megasquirt I could go in and select the airflow I was seeing at that particular RPM while keeping it steady on the interstate at part throttle and lean it out, and in return I was getting close to 38 MPG...

Andrew.

From the ECM Wiki: 2G timing in a 1G. Note that DSMLink timing adjustments are active all the time, not just at wide open throttle.
I use factory timing settings till 3500 rpm, then drop them lower as boost rises. This helps the fuel mileage stay up to 30 mpg.

The program can't change closed loop fuel control, so I don't believe you can do that with DSMLink.

I think you're correct. As far as tuning above 8k RPM, you can get a MAP sensor wired in and select the "fake maf" and "use map" then just adjust your VE table. I'm sure when Jeff jumps in here, he can better explain things.

funny thing is I have dsmlink and still can't get on the dsmlink forum... it says registration has been blocked by the admin........

I'm new to link but I feel a slow monkey could tune with it. As far as obtaining more power than normal then that requires some black art time.

just sent them an email... anyone know what dead time and global settings are for the stock 450's? I ordered the chip with intentions of getting 950's but with money's not here yet....

And lastly to the people using Link... what kind of mileage are you guys seeing with it????

do you seem to be able to improve over factory mileage?

I get about 18-20mpg in the city and 23-25mpg on the highway and I do step on it quite often. If I drive it really hard then it drops to 16-18mpg or even less.

I'm good to go now, thanks again Jst4Cyl... And just to verify for future searches, 0 dead time and 0 global is the correct number for 450cc injectors correct?
