Edmonton,
Hey, i'm new to modding cars and not mechanically savvy at all... but i want to order an intake off ebay that will fit directly to my stock turbo and will be easy to install. I have a K&N filter and 1GBOV plus UICP.... I just want to make sure that the pipe will fit and will be easy for me to install being that i really dont know much about cars yet ( but want to learn)!!

here's a pic of my setup. If someone could link me to a cheap ebay pipe that fits i would appreciate that alot cause i want to order one right now. i just dont want to order the wrong one that doesn't fit and requires like modifcation to install

Lol. Yea its some pretty cool music. Its a very simple install. Its the one I'm going with once I'm done with my maintenance. Since you already have a filter it works good for you cause now you'll have an spare.

:dsm:

But while your doing it you could pull off the vacum line that goes from your valve cover to your intake pipe and cap the one on your intake pipe and put a breather on the valve cover.

I would recommend not doing this unless you want oil all over your engine bay. Just hook it up as it was before. If you want to add a catch can, search on here for "husky catch can."

hmmm... i just went out and looked at all the connections and it does look easy to install so im happy about that. What would be the difference if i did what R6 suggested? just cleaner looking?

I would avoid that one. That one is the one that was on my car. The casting is really rough on the inside and the filter is way small. I would see if you could pay a fee and abort that order and get this:

Modern Automotive Performance  :: DSM  :: Intercoolers and Intake  :: Intake Pipes  :: FP Aluminum Intake Pipe: Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99

What's cheap now is not always what's cheap in the long run. As soon as you get any power, you'll want to replace that eBay one.

I ordered and installed this one:
eBay Motors: 95-99 Eclipse Turbo GST GSX/Talon Air Intake Pipe * RAM (item 380008833985 end time Mar-27-08 10:13:15 PDT)

It was a simple install. The only warning is that it pushes the FIPK more towards the fender, but that isn't necessarily bad really.

Also, you might want to consider the "in-line" oil catch cans. You can run a search for it, or just run over to your nearest automotive store [Autozone, Pepboys, etc.] and buy an "inline fuel filter" as they're called. Once again, just install in between the line from your valve cover to intake piping and you can see it catch some of that bypass gunky junky.

Hope that helps in addition to what the others have already said!

^Did yours have a rough cast too?
Are you referring to the quality/material of the surface? Yeah, it isn't quite as smooth as those other polished ones, but it looks and functions great! hahaha:thumb:
