From my understanding, the FP Exhaust Housing is a bolt on for the PTE 50 trim. I noticed that it is a 6 bolt housing as is my PTE 5031e (journal bearing) and it looks like it would work.

1) Anyone have any info over this?

2) Whats your thoughts on how spool would be?

3) Whats your thoughts on top end?

I'm wondering if the spool wouldn't take a hit (slower spool) and the top end be a little better.

The only thing that I'd wonder about would be compressor surge (shouldn't have to worry about it being that I'm journal bearing) and weither or not I'd notice a difference in spool being the FP flows more.

Any constructive advice is appreciated. :rocks:

P.S. I already have the Tial 44mm v-band WG, and plan on going with a 3065 someday and may have a chance to pick up this housing so this is why the thread was created.

The FP30 exhaust housing can be purchased in one of 4 different turbine wheel profiles.

GT30
GT35
T31 (stage III)
T350 (stage V)

First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to comment and provide any info. With that being said do you care to make some recommendations and reasoning to your choice. This is a street car (light to light type thing, 1/4 mile car). Thanks in advance.

he really didn't specify a choice and there really isn't one. If you have a 5031 then you need the T31 turbine housing. If you already have a 44mm gate then the FP housing could work out well for you.

The only part you would be able to reuse if you went to a 3065 would be tghe 44mm gate. If you plan to go that big you should consider selling your 5031 and just buying a 3065.

I love the 5031 though, set up properly with a good set of cams, proper fuel, good Intercooler and tuning makes it my favorite turbo on the market for the 4G63 base.

Agreed. Now that I've finally gone external on my bb5031, it has proven itself to be a more-than-capable fun street turbo. I was flowing ~45 lb/min last season on a shitty internal wastegate and was trapping 115mph with a leak from hell in my turbine housing. If you already have a 5031 setup, I would NOT recommend spending all of the money converting to an FP housing. IMO that's a whole lot of money wasted for a marginal power gain; On top of the fact that you'd have to spend an equal amount of cash converting everything over to an FP3065, should you go that route. Either stick with what you have or upgrade.

*edit* Just a thought though, the only thing that wouldn't be interchangeable is the turbo itself. The manifold, o2 housing, and 44 vband should be capable of being reused.

Alrighty, Thanks for looking out guys.

As I've mentioned before (in other posts) all the parts are brand new, so I would hate to sell them already :D

We'll see where this setup takes me and then go from there. I just am having second thoughts I guess :(

Unless you're already running sub 11.5's with the 5031, I think you made the right choice :)

Thanks, I think that is what I needed to hear more than anything else right now. I'm just afraid of disappointment, but that could be the case no matter what turbo I am running and I just need to keep that in mind.
