ok guys, i tried suearching diff combinations of the words and got no where...im either having a huge brain fart or its just harder than it seems, or im doing something wrong...

how the heck do ya get the wires off the spark plugs??? im putting my new Valve Cover on and want to take the old one off, do i just pull them off? turn them? do i have to do a dance clap twice and hop for them to come off or what? LOL

and them once i get them off, do i have to remove the spark plugs to do the install of the new cover?

feel free to laugh at me...i know how dumb i may sound right now...

First of all, no you do not have to remove your plugs to pull the valve cover , but its a good time to replace them anyway. Sometimes you do have to pull really hard to get the wires off, but at the same time you have to be careful not to pull the wire out of the boot. Pull on the boot itself, avoiding pulling on the wire. Once you do get them off go up to your friendly local parts store and ask for some spark plug wire grease. They should hand you a little packet of grease that will you avoid having this problem next time. While you're there pick up some new ngk's, better safe than sorry and you're already in there haha.

thank you, im a pretty strong guy, i wasnt using all my strength, but i was putting a good amount of pull on one and it didnt budge, so i was think "hmmm maybe i shouldnt be pulling on these"...

and i was pulling on the boot, i didnt want to rip it out...that would suck...

NGK's...BPR7ES right?

thankx again Mr2good

No problem. But you probably want BPR6ES, 7's are for 16+psi I believe.

Oh yeah by the way, I hope you plan on replacing the gasket and the plug well seals as well as the half moon gasket with that new valve cover. You can usually get them all in a set with the valve cover gasket at any parts store.

my stock turbo is running high boost, guy before me was a nut job and im trying to save this car...my bosst gauge reads 20 plus psi at times....yes i know this is reall REALLY bad, but im not driving the car and havent tackled that problem yet...so many things i need to fix/modify on this car...i want to kick the previous owner in his, well you know...anyway, ill get the 6's i guess...would if be bad if i ran the 6's with higher boost, or should i just get the 7's...

edit: got new gaskets and everything

Get an MBC to help remedy that over-boosting problem.

Well I'm going to dig this up instead of making a new thread.

I can't get my wires off or plugs out. I got the wire off of the 1st cyl but the lower part of the boot is stuck to the plug. The second wire boot tore at the top, and this is where I stopped. I started, or attempted to start it this morning, and it will barely idle, and not for long. If I would touch the throttle at all it would sputter, not rev up, then die. So I figured I check the plugs out, since I haven't replaced those in quite a while.

So now what the hell do I do? I'm hoping its just going to be bad plug and/or wires, which seems to me is the problem here.

you're going to need a new set of wires and might as well replace the plugs since they are so cheap.

If a piece of the boot is stuck to the spark plug you're going to need some long thin pliers or rig something up to pull that sucker off the plug before you can get a spark plug socket on it.

My buddy just had this happen to his GF's CRV this weekend. Needle-nose pliers were not long enough so he ended up using a long screwdriver and a piece of an old coat hanger as a hook.

Good luck.

Not sure if I am reading this correctly. You say that the first spark plug wire is removed, but the lower part is still attached to the spark plug, still in the engine? And the second spark plug wire you tore off leaving the rubber boot ripped in half, and then attempted to start your car? If this is right, then stop attempting to start your car. Of course it's going to run like crap with spark only going to two cylinders. For me, when I go to take off a spark plug wire, I do it carefully by twisting clockwise and counter clockwise while pulling up. Try this on the two remaining spark plug wires, grasping the boot, not the wire. As for the first cylinder dilemma, you have to get the rest of the boot off.

Reverse that. I have remote start on the car. When I went out it wasnt running, so I tried to manually start it. Thats when it was hesitating and such. After that, I then started to look into things. After the boots tore and such my temper flared up and I walked away.

Also, I did the same as you do. I twisted them. So Im not sure whats actually 'stuck' in there. All of them twist but dont come off.

Either way I'm hoping that this was the problem from the begnning, either the plugs or the wires.

I don't know about everyone else, but stuck boots were never that big of an issue for me...maybe it's just because I'm a spoiled rotten car brat with oodles of tools to use (Love you Daddy!!). But if mine ever got stuck, I always just ripped em off, grabbed the pliers and pulled those suckers out. But being a spoiled rotten car brat, I have foot long needle nose.

Another option would be that I used before I had the long NN, we used to just barely pry one side up, slip one side of a pair of pliers in (The "L" shaped kind work best), and do the same on the other side, clamping down on the long rubber part. Then just rotate your hand so you can pull straight up, clamp down as hard as you can, and just yank em out. Kind of a round about way, but it's worked for me in the past for some stubborn wires.
