Does anyone know what wheel/tire combo well work on a 2G, I want to find a set of slicks for my car but need to clear my Willwood brakes and I'm 99% sure a 15" won't. Thanks Ron

An inexpensive combo would be 16X7 or 16X8 Rota Slipstreams with a 26X9.5 Hoosier Quicktime slick. Very light weight.:thumb:

I just went on there website and don't see this size listed? Am I missing something?

Ron, was curious which Wilwood setup you are running? I to am looking for slicks or drag radials but wasn't sure if a 16" rim would clear my Wilwood kit. I tried a stock set of GST rims & was left with something like 1mm clearance between the caliper & outer portion of the rim.

That is exactly what I run, and have had good success with them. I have had to use a 3mm spacer on the rear hubs to clear the spindles.

Good, thats the cheapest I found, and Rotas were from www.machiii.net, thats also the cheapest.

Also, where i picked up mine.

The slicks I purchased from Summit.

I am also running a wilwood 12.2" 4-piston setup with forged superlites, no clearance issues at all.

I am NOT running tubes in mine, just tarred the hell out of them during the tire installation onto the rim.

Who makes the forged superlites? Where did you guys buy your hub centric spacers?

Anyone know where you can purchase hub-centric spacers for a 2G? (3mm)

I've got a nice set of 5mm spacers from Supercar-Engineering. They also sell 3mm spacers. They are not really proper hub centric, but they fit MUCH better than anything universal you can buy. I've ran them on my car for several thousand miles without any issue.

There is really no need for hub-centric-anything as long as you use self centering lug nuts.

Good link -- This was where I purchased mine from in the past -- I just couldn't remember the darn website ROFL !

Thanks for the info in my thread. Do you think instead of 3mm spacers I would be better to order 16*7 45mm offset for the fronts and 16*8 48mm offsets for the rear? That should eliminate the need for spacers correct?

Are there any springs that will still allow you to run a 26" tires on a 2g? The parts car I bought came with a set of Koni yellows so I would like to use them w/o going to a ground control set up.

What is the clearance issue, between the tire & the knuckle? If so, going to a 48mm offset is going to make the issue even worse, as it tucks the rim further in. If you need more clearance between the tire & the knuckle you want to run a smaller offset to push the tire further out (closer to the fender)

Ya your right. To many night shifts in a row I couldn't think clearly.

you want to use a 40mm offset with the Rota Slipstreams. Then use a 3mm spacer to clear the upper section of the spindle where it bolts up to the upper control arm.

The 45mm's will have issues clearing the rear.

Use a 3mm spacer on the rears with a set of 16x7" 5x114.3mm 40mm offset slipstreams.

Use www.machiii.net for your wheels. They should be $500 shipped.

As for the springs in the rear, my combinations have changed over the years, but the same issue is faced when running a 26x9.5x16 slick on a 2G. The rear tires will hit on a 40mm offset rim. You would want a lower offset to make it clear.

I am currently running K Sport Kontrol Pro Coilovers without many issues; but I still need my spacers no matter what ride height I am at.

I'm abit confused one person says 45mm with a 3mm spacer the other is saying 40mm with a 3mm spacer?

If it turns out to be mearly an offset problem with fender clearance then it isn't really a problem. My current rims are +38 so I imagine only a small spacer might be needed. I just don't want ot buy springs more than once as I would prefer to run the QTP instead of a full slick. Maybe I'll just come out of pocket a little more for the ground controls anways. Thanks for the help :)
