I can see the white just fine during the day. Even with a glare it isn't bad. As for the the wiring, I have mine hooked up to the cig lighter, but there are tons of 12v sources you could hook it up to.

I was going to buy the oil pressure gauges tomorrow, so there is no way to switch it from white to amber at all? I wonder why it says switchable on the site. I might call them tomorrow and see what they say

Well in the daytime im going to run the white. But the wire for the wite has to be hooked up to some sort of 12v ignition wire for them to turn on in the day. As for the night ill hook it right to my dimmer.

I bought a Prosport "Premium Line" oil pressure guage from MachV about a month or two ago because it was one of the few decently priced guages that read to 150psi.

I must say, I am extremely impressed. Quality was suprisingly good considering the cost, and I was suprised to find how easy it is to see lit up even during the day when it's really bright out. It is switchable, I have mine setup for white during the day, and amber when my parking/headlamps are switched on, though you can have it reverse of that, or amber all of the time or white all of the time.

All of the supplied hardware was of good quality, and the oil pressure sender and it's connecter was excellent quality, it seemed the connecter was that of a GM Delphi style.

Though I have never really had a problem with Autometer guages, I think that I wont be buying Autometer stuff for my DSMs as long as these Prosport guages retain their price and quality of the one I bought.

Could you give more detail on how to keep them white all the time and amber at night or 1 on all the time if you could?

It's simple, there are two different wires that are the power source for the lighting of the guage, each wire for different color (white for white, amber for amber), and whichever color you want to have on during the day, you just tie into a power source that is on whenever the ignition is on. The other you tie into your lamp switch circuit, so whenever the lamps are turned on, it switches color. And if you just want one color all of the time, then you just only choose the one color wire to be powered on constantly when the ignition is powered.

The instructions are good and easy to read, there shouldnt be a problem installing them unless you are absolutely worthless at wireing stuff.

I use the filter on mine as well, if it makes a difference. Mine wasn't metal as described above. It was clear plastic with some white foam on the inside it looked like.

I have the blue ones they're great but I must admit that they are kinda hard to see during the day. I did get some "Visors" with them I might just have to use them and see if that would help.

Mine was somewhat like that... Except it wouldn't show boost past 10psi, even though I was boosting 16.

I'm guessing the wires can't be pinched together too tightly. When i rerouted the gauge wires from the pillar to the steering column, my hg readings went back to 20 solid. I had to squish the power/neg and boost sensor wire in to a door jam, possibly forcing the wires to pinch against another wire. Keep the air filter on, it helps protect the boost sensor from unwanted debris like oil from the crankcase. I have the electric peak/hold boost gauge btw.

I think im going to tie the daytime light for the gauges in the fuse box i guess that would be the easiest way to do it. As for the sending units that come with the gauges i was thinking about getting the addaptor from prosport for the rad hose. As for the oil sending unit dose it screw right into the filter housing or do i need an addaptor?

dont get that piece that adapts to the radiator hose. i just tied right into the factory coolant temp sensor and it works fine for me. have fun wiring these things up! its like wiring 2 sets of gauges in one LOL....

YEa i kinda figured that witch one is the actual temp sensor and what did you do with the iol sending unit? Dose it thread in or do i need the addaptor

I dont think you NEED the adapter its just an option you can buy there. I called them and thats what they said. I should be getting my oil pressure in tomorrow or tuesday

How is the response time of the ProSport probe that comes with the EGT gauge? Also, how does the change in temperature compare to other probes. Could you give an estimate of degrees / seconds? Thanks.

EGT probe response time is almost instantanious for me but then again this is my first EGT probe and as soon as I step on the gas or let off you can see a response from the needle. Am I the only one that is having a hard time seeing the blue ones in the day light?

Just a heads up. I just saw that Prosport has some new gauges now. They have a warning and max setting on their new gauges.

Hey I just ordered an electric boost, oil temp, and egt gauge set from prosport. I'm trying to figure out how to easily wire them. Any recomendations on easy ways to find anf identify the right wires to wire to? I'm needing help finding the wire in my '96 GS-T spyder for:

ACC position of ignition
the parking light switch
a constant 12v source

Better yet, is it possible to wire to these souces through a fused wire?

Thanks in advance guys.

under your dash in your ingnition wires you'll find a good ACCESORY wire to tap into. Your dimmer switch can be pulled from behind the radio, or by the button for the lights. always a good idea to fuse the power wire (in this case, between your ACC tap, and your guages)

another way to get a good ACC source, is to run an 8ga wire from the battery inside the car, and use a relay. use any small ACC wire to turn on the relay, then you can put quite a few ACC outlets off that relay, as long as you dont exceed the rating of the relay, usually 30a, if its a bosch relay. that gives you a good strong ACC source for multiple items. don't forget to fuse that 8ga with a 30amp fuse between the relay and the batt though.

good luck.

I appreciate that, but what I actually need is help identifying the wires you're suggesting that I tap into.

Thanks

there is a few larger 10ga wires in the ignition wire area, grab a test light and find out which one of them is correct. i don't have my car torn apart anymore to look easily for you. but 30seconds with a test light, and you'll have your answer.

Thanks, but I still prefer the prospor tpremium gauges because they have a peak/warn function.

Their website doesn't indicate they have it, and I don't see a light or button in the gauge pics themselves.

They've got more than one type.

DSD's have it.
