I bought my car with a "B&M" shifter in it, a couple day.s ago the bolt that holds the lever to the selector completly broke and left me stranded.

I also noticed that several thing were not right when i took my center console out, and realized it was one of the ebay knockoff's, i would highly suggest getting away from them.

Now are there any good options besides a B&M? Anyone tried a Fidanza or Megan Racing shifter with any luck?

Ebay short shifters and turbo and well everything breaks easy. Dont buy from there unless you like wasting your money on stuff that will break soon, leave you stranded or cost you a new motor.

I'm not very familiar with the ebay brands, but my authentic B&M shifter has been going strong for almost two years now. I ordered it from a shop (can't remember which one) and it took damn near a month to ship. It was worth it though.

I have been using an Ebay B&M knockoff shifter for ~2 years with out a problem due to the shifter. I did how ever have the bolt in the shifter assembly that the shifter mounts to break off. It was a pita but I was able to drive home with a vice grips holding the bracket together for the ride home. Once home it took me all of 20 mins to weld the bracket back together.

I know some people have success with ebay parts (e.g. XS/SS FMIC), but I can never bring myself to put the parts on my car. :coy: I'd rather wait til I have the money so I can do the job/modification "right".

Anyways, I've had my genuine B&M short throw shifter on my car for about three years now. Works and feels great! No issues to speak of.

That same bolt broke on my B&M, but it lasted me about three years before doing so. :p Crappy thing though is B&M wouldn't allow me to BUY a replacement bolt from them without having a receipt. ...dunno, back to stock for now.

So in this thread we have users of the eBay B&M who had a bolt break and legit B&M owners who've had the same bolt break.
Conclusion? This thread's title sucks.

p.s. my knockoff B&M shifter works fine.

+2 I've had my Megan short shifter for 2 years now, no problems here!
