Forced Performance Flywheel Bolts

Very good explanation gsx951.

If the a/t spacer is not used the likelihood that the bolts will back out increases. A lot.

Very good question of course. I'm replacing my clutch system myself and ordered Fidanza's 8lb alum. flywheel. I went to bolt it up to the crank and what started my curiousity was how far it was off the crank. So, I dug the paper that came with the flywheel and they "suggest" using the 95 flywheel bolts. Didn't specify whether it was a n/a or forced induction application though so it's something to make you wonder about.

Also, after researching and noticing a lot of people commenting about Fidanza's flywheel's being 4mm thicker is very understandable. Out of curiousity I measured mine and came up with very close to the stock measurement. Anyone figure they might've made them more stock spec? Regardless I said definite for the a/t plate. I mean, duh.. if you know what it's for you know it's gonna help. Good luck.

What happened here?

Like I said... I Think if it was a big deal fidanza would be recommending that you use a plate, or longer bolts.

Judging by that picture, new bolts nor an a/t plate wouldn't have done anything to help.

2 fidanzas ( 7 bolt and now 6 bolt) with new stock bolts and loctite since 2004.

i know this thread is old but i thought this might help some people trying to find a definet answer. Well I contacted fidanza themselves to see if stock flywheel bolts are ok and I also asked about useing a spacer. I got this:

Hello,

Thanks for contacting Fidanza. Yes, you can use the stock bolts. Our flywheel is designed to the same dimensions as the stock flywheel. Also, you can use washers, but they are not necessary.

Thank You,

So I had an oil leak, I was looking for it today after removing my power steering system. I look inside the transfer case, where the oil pan goes up underneath it and the two bolts you can see but cant get to, are missing. and thats where my oil leak is, obviously.
so tomorrow, I get to remove the transfer case, drop the oil pan, and make sure my car is still alive. it better be, the motor only has about 1000 miles on it. I bought the car with the new motor already in it, so this will be my first time doing this. Anyone have any advice I might need to know before I do this?

thanks
-James

You've got the right plan. The transfer case is relitivly easy to remove. I just wanted to remind you that when you put your oil pan back on there are two of the oil pan's bolts that are shorter than the rest. They go under the crank pulley for your timing belt. If the longer bolts get put under it they will rub on your Tbelt. Also I would look into why the bolts fell out in the first place.(stripped threads?)LOC TITE is your DSMs friend. GOOD LUCK!!! I hope this is usefull.

It is helpful, and I definately will use loctite. and I'll make sure I note the shorter bolts go where they should. I'll update the thread when I'm done. I'm going to get a new gasket at autozone tonmorrow and hopefully get some new bolts for the oil pan.

When I put the new gasket on do I need to use RTV sealant too or just the gasket alone?

Use RTV on both sides of the gasket. Make a nice thin layer on both sides and you'll be good to go.

I just went and measured my FIDANZA Flywheel and My stock Flywheel. They are 100% without a doubt the SAME.... The bolts go through to the Crank exactly the same.... I havn't a clue who couldn't measure and started this rumor... But I just want it clear that the FIDANZA FLYWHEEL does not need any Longer bolt....

Fidanza has made several revisions to the part since I've been using them, perhaps this is yet another;)

Forced Performance used the OEM mitsu bolts in this kit. and An OEM spacer. However it is over priced and You can go to a dealer and get it cheaper. But they are OEM bolts. Part number was MD008839 and is NOW PN/ MD031605 for the 26mm bolts
