I bought an aftermarket oil pressure gauge a while back and i want to install it. BUT I was wondering if i unhook the stock oil pressure gauge will my pressure light stay on all the time? and what do I do with the stock wires? let them dangle?

You should get an after market oil pressure sensor, that should give you much more accurate information than the stock unit and without having to disconnect the stock one. many different companies offer mounting solutions for oil pressure and temp sensors that don't require removing stock ones or taping into the block or oil lines.

their are of course many different options, just search around and find some but that is the method that i would recommend..

good luck

The oil pressure gauge and the oil light are on 2 different sensors. If you look at the oil filter housing you'll see a large sensor and a small one. The large one is for the gauge and the small one is for the light. When you unhook it, just tie the wire up out of the way and it should be fine.

Or you could just buy 2 1/8 npt tees and tee in both a temp sensor and a pressure sensor. Better than spending 60 bucks on one of those oil filter things that stick your oil filter into your downpipe.

Or just have both connected at the same time. Here's Defiant's famous picture:

Wire wrap? Like heat-shrink tubing or what? You can Google it, I'm sure many, many places sell it.

That hole is just plugged by an allen stud, so you can just remove that and thread the sender that comes with the gauge in.

like that mesh type heat wrap stuff that goes over wires... Its on the wire that goes to the o2 sensor and the oil pressure sending unit in that picture. autzone doesnt,or advanced

does it lok like that on a 1g? If so I know here to mount my oilpressure sensor. However I have both a oiltemp and a oilpressure gauge...so where is a good place to mount the temp sensor?

that is the 1g version. or atleast mine looks like that

whats the second tap besides the "good pressure tap bolt"? Is it a possible place to tap in the temp probe or should I find another place? Thinking of doing this next week so..any pointers where to tap in the temp gauge would be nice:)
