^^^^^^^ if your scared say your scared

And i have been racing for a long time and have alot of passes under my belt ....BUT yes i have never gone 9's or 10's ..........but i have drivrn my friens integra to and 11.8 and after that i was hooked and wanted to do such a bad ass build up.

YES once you start making high hp trannies and motors need to be rebuilt more often but that is just the nature of the beast

automatic is #1 boring (trust me on this one) and #2 ghay, but to be consistent is a good thing.
let the man go 9s like im planning with alot less work than that maniac, you will all see me and dsmzero will have one thing in common and that IS WE WILL BE CHANGING TRANNIES IN BETWEEN RUNS OR EVERY OTHER RUN, i know we will because trannies are lasting me about one to track visits and beating on the street equaling about two weeks at only 443whp. i wonder how quick these GLASS TRANNIES will go once im making 600+, maybe i should have a long talk to shep and get him to take a long look into making these trannies a little more stonger, i know these trannies have alot in common with srt4 trannies and there are companies that do srt4 trannies so maybe that is a good starting point.

If your having problems with trannies braking...................

I wonder why dose HRC claim how stought the whole drive train is and how they have countless passes on there 420a with out any problems.......I have also asked HRC about how goos the tranny will hold up to high hp and they told me "just fine no problem , just get a clutch and maybe axles and call it a day"

but if you are having these problems...then how true can that be?

What are you talking about? These cars aren't my life. They're a hobby. If I could do a build with the money you have I wouldn't. I race motocross with 11 sponsors behind me. This is a thing I do on the side. My bikes are #1. My car is #2.

I know. If I recall correctly I told you that when you asked about the 70mm throttle body. I actually wanted to give you an early heads up. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=151061603&postcount=17

Are you doing any of the work(yourself) to this car?

As far as the weak point of the trannies, if you browse around 2gnt.com you will notice many guys blow their differential up. I believe most of the time the diff pin slides out. Maybe some safing brackets would be beneficial.

To my knowledge, (off top of head) that is the weakest point.

so if im running a Quafie LSD,
that should elevate that problem.....Right?

the first tranny i went through the diff went straight through the tranny in a 360degree form, the second tranny i was racing a modded gt2 porsche and the shift forks bent just like that from a roll on a freeway ( ohh well i still won:dsm: ):thumb: .
im very sure the shift forks cant take the abuse from high rpm hard shifts LIKE I GIVE IT, i also think it has something to do with the car spinning sooo bad on the streets that no matter what im shifting at 8000rpm + due to the car just holding at redline untill 4th gear and i never take it easy. what i will determine is if the 01+ neon tranny wil be better and maybe stronger for the long run but i will definetely will have to shift in the high rpm's due to longer gears so i dont fall out of the power band.

so if im running a Quafie LSD,
that should eliminate that problem.....Right?
With the quaife, you now have no diff worries ;) .
The good news that I see about awddynomite's breakage is that the gearing and synchros etc. seem to be able to take the abuse. If it's "only" shift forks that are going then there is hope for the tranny.

hmmmmmm
any sugestions???
SRT-4 shift forks....??

I have been doing alot of re-search and some phone calls too.....

ok Darrell Cox "the man" Aslo suggested an automatic tranny too. BUT his trannies are expensive needless to say.
I have also been looking into an Automatic Tranny from WWW.IPTtrans.com there prices with all the upgrades seem to be in more reach.. $3000

ok
Im not saying im going to go Auto BUT i just like to know what my options are when i get to that bridge.
Ill see what i can dig up abot the shift forks and if parts will be interchanable.....
I didnt gt to talk to darrell directly but the shop is gonna ask him what i can do about the tranny i have now. and if he offers anything for it.

dont be surprised in the furture if you see me as an automatic though

You could also think about having one-off super-strong forks cut for you. I can't see it costing that much.

Exactly what I was thinking when I said there is hope for the trannys. Worst case scenario (if that's the only weak point) have forks made. But I would search out replacements first.

As for auto trannies, I'm way to old school-street racer. I could not get myself to use an auto. Nothing wrong with it, but my testosterone just couldn't go there :D

Darreel Cox puts out over 1000whp on the mopar SRT-4 in the hot rod class
and
it is equiped with on of his automatics.....

where could i get custom forks made????
maybe I could have mine sent off to have some made......

I also have a problem with my testosterone in using an auto it just dosent seem man enough......BUT if it works and will go faster then be it

Any machine shop that has a mill. (All machine shops should have a mill)

Well... I'm finding more and more machine shops are making a clear differentiation between "machining" and "fabricating." I would look for a metal fabricator.

Also, I'm sure I can have one CNC milled from a block of steel if someone wants to send me a spare clutch fork to digitize.

Where they hell are you now? You up here or down there? I can run you up a fork (I got a couple kickin' around) for dimension sake. I'm NOT saying I'm in or anything (yet). I'm not doing my turbo project (yet), so I don't have a use for the fork (yet). But if it will help others and you want, I can get one to you.

I'm still up here... for another two weeks at least. I hate to make you come all this way just for a shift fork. I don't mine paying you a few dollars just to ship it.

Hmm, looks like we have a movement. Paul, pm me an addy and I'll ship them up to you. I gotta race this weekend, but I'll get them out early next week.

If they're made, count me in. I could definately use that part when I install MS. Clutch fork problems is the last thing I want on the track/dyno.. :thumb:

as far as one being made i woould call shep or TRE and see who they get there chromoly forks made for the turbo models at, they would have to be pretty strong to handle ME:rocks: :thumb: ROFL
