random misfire code only with 6 bolt 1g long block? Or will short block do the same?

Dumb question, but got confused for a minute. So as the title says, I am swapping in a 6 bolt short block into my 2g. So I would still use my 2g head, thus I would reuse my 2g CAS? or no? Would I still get the random misfire code? I am really hoping that using my 2g head would make this not happen. Please let me know.

Also if this is not the case and if i still do get the misfire cel, then is dsmlink the only way to for sure remove the code? I have read about some other ways to possibly remove it but none seem very sure fire.

Use your 2g head and you should be fine.
I like the 2g head better anyhow.

I agree on the 2g head I like it better too. Will the 2g CAS give the pulses for the crank sensor? or is he going to have to go to a 1g CAS. And to the op Link is the best way to get rid of it it doesnt even look for that code when you set it up.

So with the 2g head I don't need to go with the 1g CAS? The 2g CAS will still send the signal the same and be received the same without throwing a cel?

i am also having this problem 6 bolt block 2g head (random misfire code)only comes on when cruising..its at the shop now to figure out how to get ride of this problem..the options i've seen are dsm link(best) or try using a different cas theres other methods but all seem like big risks...but you may not have this problem because all swaps dont have this problem..

Most 6 bolt swaps will have this problem. The black top CAS is less likely to have this problem. The best way to rid yourself of this problem is by using DSMlink to disable the check for random misfires.
Although the problem should clear itself once you shut off the car and restart it, its really not that bad. Although I dont have to deal with it, having DSMLink and all :)
But yes, even if you use a 2g head on the 6 bolt bottom end, you have to use the 1g CAS, seeings as the 6 bolt block doesnt have the provisions for a crank angle sensor.

Ok thanks alot guys. So it is pretty much guaranteed that I would run into the misfire code problem? One shop I was talking to said it was like 3 out of every 10 get it. From what I have read on here it is more like 8 out of 10 if not everyone.

Also for anyone that knows, i'm buying a 6 bolt block today rebuilt. I think I'm going 1g rods 2g pistons, that is fine for a 300whp max, only dd car? The rebuilder was saying it should be good for around 250 hp, but it seems that the 6 bolt engine can handle a hell of alot more power than that providing a good tune. Want to make sure it is reliable too!
