Alright I was on my way to school and one of my heater hoses to my rad. refill exploded! My heater does not work and I can't figure out why but i'm sure this has something to do with it. After i fixed the hose the overflow bottle top kept blowing off like ever 5 minutes or less. Anyone know what the hell is going on? All I want is for my heater/ defrost to work and to not have exploding coolant lines.

I started blowing hoses that were dry rotted then after they were replaced they started busting again, couple days later headgasket blew. Possibility that it is pressurizing the coolant system ?

First we'd need to know was there enough antifreeze for the low tempatures, if not you could have bigger problems. Second, which hose exactly "blew off"? The heater hoses are behind the engine and go to the firewall, the radiator hoses are the two big ones that hook to the radiator, and the overflow line comes from the cap to the overflow bottle.
Third question, has the system been refilled with 50/50 mix of coolant? the overflow bottle could be full and the cooling system empty. What does the temp gauge indicate during all this?
