Ottawa,
Hi All,

I'm in the market for a 2g dsm, and came across what I'm told is a 96 Talon TSi (haven't actually seen it in person yet).

It appears this person has added an eclipse-tubo-ish wing to the back yet left the stock talon one on as well. I don't know if this is common, but to me it looks rather stupid.

Anyway the question is are either of those easy to remove without having a large amount of holes to fill, painting to do etc?

Also the front bumper appears to have seen better days, I was wondering if anyone has bothered doing restoration work to one or if I would be better off getting a new bumper or doing a 2gb conversion...

Thanks in advance!

[Too big.]

For the large wing there are probably two holes on either side maybe 1/4" and a third if it is lighted. To temporarily plug the holes you can buy colored plastic plugs at any auto parts store.

...

I thot only the Eclipses were unicolor... Isn't the top of the Talon supposed to be black isntead of white?

IMO, I think you shoudl take off the thumbnail spoiler... There are about... 6 holes I think... to fill?

I had also thought that, though I wasn't certain enough to bring it up. I guess it could have had a paint job?

For the bumper, it looks to be in pretty crappy condition. You could get one off ebay for about 120 shipped, as for a temp fix, just sand down the parts where it looks bottomed out, chipped and rattle can it. As far as the wing, my opinion would be to take off the big wing. I've seen that type of wing in person, and I don't think it looks right on our cars. It depends on whoever put it on, but I would guess maybe 2-3 holes on each side. Either take it to a body shop, or bondo it yourself

..Is the Arc spoiler outside the hatch... I mean, can you open the hatch? because from the pics it looks like its past the actual hatch...

Don't take it off! It'll give you x2 downforce when going 300+ mph!

</sarcasm>

But yes, it looks like he bolted up one of those fugly "type r" style spoilers to the back of it :barf: If you do buy it, take it off as soon as possible IMO.

Thanks for the replies folks.

If I did replace the front bumper, is there a lot more involved with putting a 2gb on instead of a straight replace? I guess I've heard headlights are different, anything else?

Also nobody else seems to have any issue with the unicolor thing. Were there models made like this or would that be a paint job?

At least he painted the thumbnail spoiler to match the car, I saw a Talon just like that down south but it had a black roof, black spoiler, and a white Eclipse Turbo wing. :toobad:

Not really any different than replacing it with a Talon one, besides the headlight gap.

I would guess if its a Talon, it had a paintjob, as AFAIK all Talons came with the black top. From what I can see in the pictures, the paint looks okay, but its hard to tell without seeing it up close. If it looks to be chipping off, you may want to repaint it (unless your into that kind of thing ).

Thats not a stock Turbo wing its one of those after market supra things, looks horrible its to big...

As for the giant spoiler I would remove it. I would expect to see 4-5 holes in the body of the car, you can put plugs in temporarily like (10minutequarter) said.

If you are wanting to fix the front bumper, you may want to address the chips in the hood and the side skirts also, this car probably needs an overall paint job. I would say the bumper is repairable. Sand it down with 80 grit, 180, 220, then 400. Then it will be ready for paint after some prep work. You should have seen what the bumper on my car looked like before I sanded and painted it. Yikes!

The gaps look good between panels, but you may want to check the carfax to see if it has been wrecked before, I don't trust any car with a non-factory paint job. (to my knowledge all talons had a black roof)

All Talons have a OEM black roof, if its not than the car was repainted at one point

... i just noticed your profile says you live in canada....
You dont happen to live in london do you? I saw this EXACT car today driving past fanshawe college at like 6...
